You Have the Right to Defend Yourself with a Gun
As a kid growing up during the middle portion of the 20th century, nobody ever asked me if I felt that I had the right to defend myself. Why? Because it was understood that everyone had the right to defend themselves, regardless of the circumstances.
My parents taught me to never start a fight. When I would get into the occasional scrap on the playground, they wanted to know how it began. If I started the fight, I’d be punished. If I was merely defending myself, my parents were proud of me for standing up for myself.
But somewhere along the line, things have gotten messed up. The mind-numbingly naïve liberal mindset has twisted everything around, and this is one of those things. They have somehow managed – despite all logic to the contrary – to turn perpetrators into victims and victims into perpetrators.
The United Nations is a prime example of an organization that has lost its way due to having a series of liberals at the wheel. Not too long ago, the U.N.’s Human Rights Council said that there is no right to self-defense.
These geniuses declared that it is a human rights violation for a government to allow a person to use a firearm in self-defense against a rapist or other criminal who is not attempting homicide, at least at that moment.
Even someone with only a fifth grade education understands that this is total crap.
Basically, what they are trying to accomplish with this warped philosophy is to eliminate guns. If defending yourself or a loved one against a rapist means killing them with a gun, the U.N. and other bleeding heart liberals will say that self-defense is not warranted.
Right. I guess next time that happens I will politely ask the rapist to stop. And if he doesn’t, I’ll just throw up my hands and say, “Oh well, I tried.”
Now, I know you’re too smart to believe the nonsense that comes out of the mouths of folks that want us all to hand over our guns. But it can’t hurt to toss a reminder out there once in a while.
Let’s review the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution for a moment, shall we? It reads, in part, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Friends, don’t ever give up your guns! Keep them clean, store them carefully and train yourself to use them responsibly.
And because we live in a society where liberal voices are getting louder, hide the guns you don’t think you’ll have use for in the near future. Because it’s just a matter of time before somebody tries to take them away from you, whether it’s a home invader or a misguided law enforcement officer.
Regardless of what the Obama Administration says, regardless of what your local politicians say and regardless of what the United Nations says, you have the right to defend yourself, your family and your home with a gun.
Don’t ever forget it and don’t ever give in.

P.S. Your guns will only remain useful to you if you keep them in good condition. Check out my blog on keeping your guns clean.
nobody asked you to hand over your guns, unless it was your parole officer
“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”, or something to that effect.
What did we “the white people” tell the Indians?
“Turn in your arms, The Government will take care of you”.
Frank, Thank you for your article. It is my opinion that a 12 GA Shotgun is the best home defense. If you or your neighbor starts randomly spraying bullets at a intruder/intruders, even bullets striking the intruder will travel farther than the intruder, possibly penetrating the walls of a home or homes of your neighbors. A shotgun will not.
How to buy a rifle for home protection?
Hi Frank, while I appreciate different points of views, but fear baiting shouldn’t be the response either, and maybe by your point of view anybody that disagrees with you must be a leftie, sensible gun laws are just that, sensible,I do like some of your articles, have a good day
Thank you Frank Bates, for today’s article. I, too, grew up in the middle portion of the twentieth century, when things were more simple and honest. People respected one another regardless who they were. God-fearing, law-abiding citizens were the norm. I guess those days are gone. Left-wing politically correct academics are trying to transform our country into something we hardly recognize. what a shame! My home and family will be protected and defended.
It’s not like it was in the old days, right Louis? We have to adapt, of course, but not at the price of giving up our rights.
