Proof: Fake News Media Bias Finally Exposed… (We Knew It Already)

“That’s not fair.”

We say that as children when we see a sibling or friend get something we didn’t get.

Years later, many of us are still saying it when we see mainstream media show bias against conservatives and their values.

President Donald Trump even called it a name – fake news – pointing out the hypocrisy of media outlets such as CNN, The New York Times and NBC for their slanted coverage.

The problem with a “That’s not fair!” claim is that it is often hard to prove. That’s especially true when it comes to politics and the media.

The folks on the Left seem to think the mainstream media coverage is just fine. In fact, when we say that media coverage is biased against conservatives, they call us crybabies. They tell us it’s just our opinion.

But guess what? Now it’s a documented fact!

CNN and Harvard Admit Media Bias Against Trump

CNN media reporter Dylan Byers confessed last week that the mainstream media tend to ignore the stories of conservative Americans. They also report the “arc of history” from a progressive point of view.

He said, “The story we have largely been telling is a story that is more or less in step with the arc of history as defined by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.”

And now a study by Harvard University recently backed up the reporter’s remarks. The study showed that major media outlets covered Trump’s presidency in a negative fashion 80 percent of the time during his first 100 days in office.

Eighty percent!

Not surprisingly, the worst offenders were CNN and NBC. They covered Trump negatively 90 percent of the time. Even Fox News was guilty of more negative than positive coverage (52 percent to 48 percent). Although they were remarkably balanced compared to other major media outlets.

Obama’s Coverage Was Much More Positive

Let’s compare that coverage with what the media gave to their darling – Barack Obama – during his first 100 days in office in 2009. The Harvard study shows that Obama’s coverage was nearly three times more positive than Trump’s.

Harvard professor Thomas Patterson said that 59 percent of Obama’s coverage during his first 100 days in office was positive.

Surprise, surprise.

The mainstream media made no secret of its love affair with Obama. Especially early in his presidency. Just as they’ve made their hatred of Trump no secret, both during the campaign and since he took office.

The travesty here is not that a vast majority of mainstream media prefer liberal politicians over conservative ones. The real problem is that they let their personal biases affect how they cover news.

They are supposed to be neutral. Fair and balanced, you might say. But clearly, they are not.

And now we have proof.

How Should We Respond?

So, what does this mean for us as we follow the news? Well, I’d say we should take mainstream media reports with a grain of salt, but I’m sure most of us are already doing that.

I guess it means two things:

  1. We can hope that other mainstream media will see those reports, understand that they are at fault and adjust the way they cover news. But let’s face it, that’s a long shot.
  2. More realistically, we can now stand up to our friends on the Left when they deny that the media is biased against conservatives. We now have documented proof… and it’s from the folks in their camp.
