135 Billion Reasons Why Illegal Immigration Is Not a Victimless Crime

Some of our friends on the left like to tell us that illegal immigration is a victimless crime. They say we should be humanitarians about it. And look the other way.

I’m all for being a humanitarian. We live in a nation that gives incredible amounts of aid to other countries. Especially when disasters strike.

There are many charitable organizations in this country. Including many faith-based organizations. All willing to rush to help hurting people.

And as you know, we at 4Patriots love to help. We donate our survival food, water purification systems and solar-powered generators. Particularly to those devastated by extreme weather events. You’re a big part of that outreach. We couldn’t do it without your support.

U.S. Taxpayers Crushed by the Problem

But calling illegal immigration a victimless crime is not accurate. Some illegal immigrants commit violent crimes. Others take jobs away from U.S. citizens.

If nothing else, we are all financial victims of this problem. Recently, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) conducted a study. The study revealed that American taxpayers are spending $135 billion per year due to the increasing number of illegal immigrants and their children.

This means the average cost to taxpayers per year for an illegal immigrant is $8,075.

How is that possible? Because free medical care and free education are not really “free.” They cost money. Lots of it. And so does law enforcement, which deals with this issue.

Recent Sweep Nabs About 500 Illegal Immigrants

“Clearly the cost of doing nothing to stop illegal immigration is far too high,” said Dan Stein. He is the executive director of FAIR.

FAIR officials say the problem will just keep getting worse. Especially as the population of illegal immigrant increases.

The strategy the Trump Administration is using is arrests. They’re targeting people with criminal records in sanctuary cities.

During one week in late September, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested approximately 500 illegal immigrants living in sanctuary cities.

Gang Members Targeted

This raid became known as “Operation Safe City.” Those arrested by ICE in the raid included 107 in Philadelphia, 101 in Los Angeles and 45 in New York City.

The main targets were illegal immigrants with criminal charges pending against them. Or with known gang affiliations.

In Los Angeles, they arrested one illegal immigrant from Mexico who had a handgun. He allegedly rammed several law enforcement vehicles with his car. All to try to escape.

That same man is a member of the Colonia Chiques gang. The FBI says this gang is one of the largest and deadliest gangs in Southern California’s Ventura County.

Sanctuary Cities Sabotage Enforcement Efforts

“President Trump has laid out a comprehensive strategy to regain control of illegal immigration and bring down these costs,” Stein said.

“Building the wall. Enhancing interior enforcement. And mandating national E-Verify. These will go a long way in bringing these ridiculously high costs under control.”

But the ICE believes courts and officials in “sanctuary cities” are slowing them down. Why? Because they are not convicting illegal immigrants or cooperating with federal enforcement. So the battle continues.

California Leads the Way Against ICE

California is the state gaining the most attention for this. Recently, Governor Jerry Brown signed a new “sanctuary law.” This will “undermine public safety and hinder ICE from performing its federally mandated mission.” That’s according to ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan.

The new law limits how much California state and local police can cooperate with federal agents. Especially on immigration investigations and arrests. As a result, Homan says his agents will have to conduct workplace and neighborhood immigration raids.

Homan said that the new law does not help the people of California. “(The law) helps shield removable aliens from immigration enforcement. And creates another magnet for more illegal immigration,” Homan said. “All at the expense of the safety and security of the very people it purports to protect.”
