A new Fox News poll reveals that 60 percent of U.S. voters are dissatisfied with the way things are going in our country. They don’t feel that either the job situation or the economy has really turned the corner and is headed in the right direction.
This is a 3 percent increase from those who said they were unhappy in the previous poll, and that change is coming mainly from people who say they are Democrats. Does that mean Democrats will stay away from the polls for the mid-term elections in November? Let’s hope so.
Also, 57 percent of those polled say they disapprove of President Obama’s job performance rating on the economy. This means they’re unhappy with what he’s doing about the economy rather than whether they think he has any economic management skills.
Although the poll shows that three out of five people are unhappy with how things are going, the results of these polls still baffle me sometimes. When it seems like pretty much everything is going wrong, and when government agencies are caught in lie after lie, and there’s one scandal after another, and the president keeps ignoring Congress to make executive decisions, and when we are becoming a laughingstock around the world, how can 40 percent of the public be satisfied with the situation?
The only thing I can think of is that the majority of people who voted for Obama will defend him no matter what he does or doesn’t do. They will be loyal to him until the end, if for no other reason than they don’t want to admit that they were wrong.
In the end, it’s what happens at the polls that makes a difference. Republicans need to take control of the Senate in the elections this November. If they can do that, maybe they’ll be able to tie Obama’s hands for his final two years in office until we can get somebody in the White House who will respect the Constitution and be a true leader. Now that would be something that I could be satisfied with.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being very dissatisfied and 10 being very satisfied, how would you rank your level of satisfaction with the way things are going in the country? I’d love to hear from you about this.
