Here’s some free advice for all the young (and not so young) Bernie Sanders supporters: Grow up!
Their chants of “No more war!” during the 2016 Democratic National Convention were cute, but demonstrated nothing more than how naïve they are. Newsflash – it’s not the Sixties anymore. You’re not at Woodstock. The hippie train left 50 years ago and you missed it.
We live in the age of terrorism where religious extremists are bent on destroying everything in sight, including members of their own religion. They’d like nothing more than to ruin the lives of everyone who believes in freedom and independence.
The U.S. needs to keep pounding on terrorists – in Syria, in Iraq, in Iran and everywhere else that we find them. We need to crush them, and by doing so, we’ll be saving the lives of countless innocent people they are trying to maim, torture and kill. And we need to deal sternly with any American who tries to join up with these crazed zealots.
Now, if you’re an adult who supports the socialist Bernie Sanders, there’s probably no hope for you. You’ve gone off the deep end and there’s no way at this point to reach you with a life raft.
But if you’re an idealistic college student, it’s not too late. College kids are known for getting caught up in causes that have very little to do with reality, but they usually grow out of it when they get off campus and start living in the real world.
In the meantime, despite the fact that they’re supposed to be living in a “free thinking” environment, they will believe anything some liberal professor or whack job left-wing guest speaker tells them.
They’ll take the cause to heart and act like it’s something they’ve thought long and hard about and have decided to devote their life to it. Then they’ll try to use their parents’ credit card to donate money to it.
If they really want to become flower children of the Sixties, maybe these young Bernie Sanders supporters can try to place long-stemmed roses into the barrels of AK-47s being held by ISIS members. Good luck with that, by the way.
