Survival Seeds… the One Resource That Will Never Run Out
What will happen to a food stockpile that you put together from scratch? Eventually it will run out if a crisis lasts long enough.
Same with the clean drinking water you’ve stockpiled. Same with all the other essential items that you’ve stored, including flashlights, batteries, fire starters, emergency radios, etc.
But there is one resource that will never run out because it is self-producing. If you put together or acquire a substantial survival seed vault, you’ll be able to grow your own food for as long as you live. Not to mention passing along this same resource to future generations.
More Disasters Are Inevitable
We Americans have survived a number of disasters through the years, including Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, plus a variety of tornadoes, earthquakes and wildfires.
But the crisis that is still lurking around the corner might be the mother of all disasters. It could be a terrorist attack or an EMP caused by a cyber attack or massive solar flare. Or it could be a financial meltdown.
Regardless, it might be the horrible thing we’ve all been preparing for through the years. In addition to substantial supplies of food and water, we all need to stockpile heirloom, non-GMO seeds that will sustain us and our families with great tasting and nutritious food for the rest of our lives.
Get Your Survival Seed Vault
What you want to do is begin storing a wide variety of non-hybrid vegetable seeds. This stockpile, not to mention the new seeds that will accompany the plants that they produce in your garden, will enable you to feed yourself and your family forever.
In addition to keeping your stomachs full in an emergency while others are going hungry, the food you’ll grow in your garden will be less expensive, more nutritious and better tasting than the food you’re now buying from grocery stores.
Got a Garden?
If you already have a garden, you can collect seeds from your plants and save them.
When gathering those seeds, there are several steps you need to take to make sure you’re doing it properly.
Among them are timing your harvest based on the individual plant’s method of seed dispersal, cleaning the seeds and spreading them out to dry and storing them in packets or in glass jars or other containers. You also need to label the packets and containers by variety and the date, and store them in a cool or cold, dark and dry place.
Don’t Have a Garden?
If you haven’t yet established a garden, or if you just want a larger variety of seeds than have been produced by the plants you’ve grown so far, there are several ways that you can acquire those seeds.
One is to visit local seed sellers. A second method is through seed catalogs.
Seeds Are the Answer
There are a lot of scary unknowns in this world, but here are two things you can count on – there will be some kind of disaster that our government is not prepared to handle, and large corporate monopolies will continue to control the food supply.
By acquiring seeds, growing your own food and storing seeds for the future, you will place yourself in the driver’s seat. Don’t put yourself at the mercy of those who want to control you!
Frank, can you provide the link for the medicinal herb garden seeds? Btw, I ordered your Patriot Survival seeds a few years ago, and this summer I started my first attempt at growing a garden.
Frank , can you get non -GMO wheat &non- hyb. seed?
I know this may sound a bit unusual to ask because of the wheat you can buy in the stores. Here is what I have learned , by stopping to eat wheat products I was able to stop the leg cramps I was having. I believe it may be letting me loose some weight as well. The research I did showed that all the Wheat products we buy are grown from GMO seed. Hope this might help someone.
our water supply is from a well on our property. I am interested in finding out what would be needed to turn that well into one that we can hand pump water from. Can you tell me what I would need to purchase to do that?
http://bisonpumps.com/deep-well-hand-pump/
Look up “simple pump” on youtube. I have one and it works perfectly.
I was attracted to the #1 resource out of curiosity. My first thought was people (safety in numbers), but in actuality my # 1 resource is my faith in and relationship with the God of heaven, in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After all what does it profit me is I have EVERYTHING I need but I lose my own soul? And honestly God works in my life where I can’t. He relishes in watching over me. I can’t imagine killing others to stay alive when I know there is no sickness and dying in heaven and it lasts forever. If it is his choice for me to come on home, I’m ready. I’f I can take a few with me to heaven, better yet but far be it from me to wish ANYONE an eternity in HELL.
My Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have told all the congregations to prepare for everything bad that will cause us to expect the worse! I have been saving two years of food & water. Your 25 year old food is wonderful for our storage and your Water filters wave helped us to add plus our Ozark Water from Texas! Because I spent with three wars eleven years in military Combat! You should be sure that I have enough ammo & shooting equipment that will keep all bad persons that try to steel from me. I am 82 years so my wife & us cannot go away for safety so we will stay at home and follow the Alamo Warriors had the right idea. They make get us, but we will take several of them for trying to get something that does not belong to them! I use my Hurricane metal slats across our house. We have a safe room that will not go thru most ammo. We have a camera around the home. Plus our ADT Alerting system so we are prepared. Our big loss is our medical because our doctors will only give us 1 month of medicines. So for everything else, we count on our Lord God to protect us I we will follow the Lord! Thank you for all you are helping us to be better prepared. Please only use my name us Dr Dre!
You can get a 90 day supply from your insurance through mail order and it is cheaper.
I got your 3month supply food and I have a generator that can run my house and large under ground basement
I’ve got one year food supply for 2 . I am working on finding a generator sufficient enough to last. I do not have an underground basement or anything
I did the right thing and ordered ,and disaster in south Carolina would like to say great save but still waiting
for my order two weeks later
Great plan! But what if you live in an apartment? Cant grow anything without a yard, unless tell my son’s with their home.
You do not have to have a yard to grow vegetables. My husband used buckets to grow his. Flower pots will do.
What makes u think that what u r putting on this web site will not be in fed hands and u will b found and your supplies and such will b confiscated ????
Ty for the minestrone soup.very tasty indeed.i would like to start collecting food and seeds.plus more info.ty again
I appreciate your info on food, but I have always been interested in power. I may not be able to afford it right now, but I’m interested.
We bought a 1;4 acre , in small town , Texas with house , shop , fruit trees and a water well , on property .
I have been just horrified over what you say is coming , because to us it is already here ! I have been out numerous times at night and early morning ,to find these thieving bass turds .They are constantly walking/riding bicycles by sizing us up . They are stripping copper from houses , having their kids watch for law . Nightmare , they steal your fuel and pretty much anything left out , they can pawn . Law seems to do nothing and small towns seem to get the overweight out of shape will not get involved bunch .
I am designing a compressed air generating system and want your manuels for input/output ratios . We have been growing a garden for years some seed stock are from 80 years of growing . We have installed cameras and this seems a good deterrent so far . I believe no matter how your dwelling appears it will be hit . I have seen people here living without electricity or running water , some even have jobs . They drive untagged , uninspected vehicles and no money . They mooch off of other people they call friends for showers and such . Shoot some of them have facebook accounts ;).
Folks bottom line , if they ain’t with ya , they agin ya , promise .
Trust none suspect all . This will be a life or death situation you are preparing for . You can be the living or the dead , pretty much your only choices !
Trust none , suspect all !
Band of neighbors will not hurt . Like I explained to my better half , I need her to do without question . Now , that has been a fun adventure . Almost there but she has trouble with the , “without question ” part .
Sounds like you need some mean-looking dogs!
I have a 2 year old German Shepherd well trained
Good for her I’d have trouble with the “without question” too. I’m assuming you’d die for your wife and kids, “without question”.
I have a survival seed valt.
I also hoard fabric and could be traded for food and other items. Yes we know the risks of others but just as prepared for that
One of my big goals for the year is to get an e-commerce website up and running where you can buy any of my products without videos. I hear you! I’m working on it.
I will protect my family no matter what it takes. It is possible that I will loose in the end, but they will know I was in town. Yes the unprepared will try and loot from those who take the time and energy to prepare, but what else is new??
If we don’t prepare now ,it will be too late when the excrement hits the fan. Thank you for all the ideas you put out here.We may not be able or cannot afford to do everything right now but we can do little things until we’re prepared for whatever nature or man throws at us.
We are newbies at :). We’re waiting on our shipment that we purchased & looking forward to receiving it. Just want to Thank You & May God Bless
Regarding the “thousands of animals” taking your prep supplies. In most cases you could be correct, however, if one doesn’t “broadcast” what they have or show a “fortress” like compound (several other articles cover this topic) you probably will keep control of what you have in your pantry.
You can have stockpiled all the food and water to exist for months or more BUT THE HOARDS OF HUNGRY PEOPLE WILL BE ROLLING OVER YOU LIKE MOLASSES DEVOURING AND KILLING FOR A SINGLE CAN OF FOOD.
All your preparation will be meaningless and WILL NOT STOP THOSE THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS WANTING WHAT YOU HAVE.
At that point, then, many of them will be meeting AK47, AR15 and assorted other caliber of lead. They may get in at the end, but a lot will be joining me in H…!
yepper , that is why you keep an exit plan . I also would strongly recommend forming a band , that hunts these looters and put a hurt on them !
Our plan exactly !
Why wait until they find you ;)?
WELL, I don’t mean to sound like a smart a–, but I disagree with your positioning FOOD as the #1 item we need. Most anyone, in the know, will say it is WATER! And so it is. If you have water, you can live long enough to find food, somehow – but if you a whole months worth of food, you won’t live a week without water! ! !
I have enjoyed your “Food Info”, for sure – but I believe it calls for WATER info, FIRST ! ! ! LUV YA, HUGH
That all depends on what you eat. Nothing but soup? You may not need to drink at all.
I agree with Mr Bodey. The human body cannot exist without water, it is vital. Of course, your garden can’t grow without water either.
I have made thousands of gallons of soup through the years. It’s good, nourishing, and it also takes WATER to make it.
Why do some people write JESUS and some write it Jesus, which is how it is spelled in the bible. Makes it seem like there is two of him. Explanation would be appreesh.
Well, dear friend, you have answered your own question, in my opinion. Both spellings are the same, the only difference is upper and lower cases of the letters!
They are pronounced the same, and if you are praying in earnest and believing, it really doesn’t matter which way you are envisioning it – Jesus is still
JESUS, OR Vice versa! ! !
Believe in Him, Jesus the Christ is the Son of our Heavenly Father. Know that, believe that, pray to Him, and it really doesn’t matter which way his name is written.
May God Bless you – and trust Him – there is ONLY ONE! ! !
We’ve begun storing and have much to learn and accomplish.
Our family is scattered so it’s with thoughts of reaching them and helping them be safe too. Very satisfied with all the videos and books on survival mechanics.
Thank you.
Marianne, Leah&many more have the common sense to understand we are to possess the land till HE returns. The end will be so bad many will wish they had perished with those already dead but anyone can die. I choose life no matter how harsh. My LORD said command ye ME this day what you would have ME do for you.Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. The universe was made for us to command now. Be of a stout heart foe HE is with us always. Prepare for the victory that is our birthright in the LORD. “How did they defeat the enemy, by the word of their testimony and the Blood of JESUS !
Glad to hear that many Jesus believing lovers of freedom have come face to face with reality. Our enemies have been let in the land and occupy their own bases in our midst. Do not neglect to arm suffiently. Recall the ancient past and Judas Maccabees war against the invading Roman army in Israel after the crucifixion and destruction of the temple.History has shown not all civil law is just but simply illegal taxation and control. Steve, Houston
Rain Lady,
Tell me more I agree with your fullosify
Another thing…when you have potatoes which are making eyes, plant them; I have a big patch of potatoes growing now…the area is 25X20. One of the potatoes I planted about two mos. ago was dead but when i pulled it up, it had two large golf ball sized red new potatoes along with it. Tucson may be hot and dry but it grows good potatoes! And, you can keep them in the ground for storing…
I agree. I really don’t have the time to watch the entire video. Don’t want to be rude or anything but I know what I’m looking for and a quick scan of the written part is all I need. Thanks for your details. Appreciate you.
Our videos almost always have a written form. When you X out of the videos a little box comes up. “stay on the page” gives you that written version.
Many websites do respond to hitting the eXit button, but this page does not. However, since this video is at You Tube, if you hover over the moving progress line, you can see a thumbnail image of what is along the line. I figured out that it probably was a seed vault like the ones in my Food 4Patriots containers. Sure enough, so I watched only that portion. I’m glad I did because I have never seen the underground seed storage in Norway. Very Interesting.
I agree with the length of some of the video’s posted. With the amount of emails I get from you and others, and I am not complaining, because there is some great info in these. It would be nice if there would be more of a Readers Digest format to them. It takes me all night to go through the ones I get from day to day and I still can’t catch up on all of the one’s I get. By the time I do get through some of them and you are trying to sell one of your products, I’m too tired to look at the screen anymore and it gets deleted. Keep them coming!
I can’t see where anyone has mentioned shoes or boots. You need to have a couple of pairs that will hold up to all sorts of terrain, if you find yourself traveling on foot, you need good walking shoes. Boots or high top hiking boots should also be on your list. Don’t forgot a soft, comfortable pair to relieve your soles when resting.
First I would like to say thank you for what you are doing for us all. My Solar generators are on there way and my seeds. My wife and I have had a big garden for 2 years now and it gets bigger each year and we have canned and frozen a lot of great food which I will depend on my solar power to keep the freezer’s running . I wish all of us Gods blessings to keep us safe in what’s coming to America. Protect what is yours.
I appreciate your plans for survival, but according to my Bible, when Jesus returns to gather up His faithful followers, there will be no other survivors and they won’t need seeds. Meanwhile, in case there is a hurricane (not where I live), tornado, or other disaster which would fir your description, Jesus has promised that our “bread and water will be sure”. The practical thing to do, I think, is to make sure you are in His care and trust Him to provide. But, for unbelievers
your plan “sounds” great.
I am a strong Christian woman myself. However, I don’t feel that the Lord intends for us to just sit back and say “The Lord Will Provide”. He expects us to take care of ourselves in every situation – with his help. Being prepared, I would think, is what the Lord expects us to do.
i so agree with mariann, the lord expects us to do our part not just sit back. we are called to take care of others and being prepared is part of THAT! THE OTHERS JUST MIGHT BE, PROBABLY WOULD BE OUR FAMILY!!!!!! WE ALWAYS HAVE A PART AS GOOD STEWArts
Agreed, Leah and Mariann….some of what Lynn believes is what the government wants you to believe – they are NOT going to take care of you!!!
Lynn sounds like she is not aware of us needing food for something other than Jesus returning. With a government like our’s, we could have any kind of emergency that we need to prepare for. My big concern is not having a sunny yard in which to plant seeds.
thank you Lynn for your input, yes when Jesus returns to gather up his Faithful, there will be no other survivors but in the mean time those that do survive are the one that are prepared to survive and hold faithful to him. There will be a time frame for that you will have to look after you self and your Family and I know this to be true. For I am a faith full follower though prayer and study of the scriptures I have come to understand his plan. But there is agency and you have the right to believe what you may. I think that using unbelievers in your statement is very harsh because if you are attentive to Franks mailing list he always says God Bless. I think that he is doing a great work in the fathers plan to bring to awareness as many people as he can for the things that are to take place because they will and it will come in many forms. I for one am preparing and I wish you all the best in your spiritual preparedness. But as for me I will prepare, physically, mentally and spiritual and just maybe I and my family will make it though. But if not I will have the assuredness to face may maker know that I did all that I could do. God Bess Linda
>Living in California, one must always be aware of the possibility of a big quake, damaging the stores and roads. Think two weeks is appropriate, for food and water. Heat and electricity might not be available. Get used to cold water, cold food and cold weather! At 86 years old, wouldn’t be able to help others much, but will try!
We were living in Santa Clarita Ca. in ’94 and remember well the hurt and destruction caused by a large quake. It was amazing to see the commeradry and selfless deeds from every one. We were totally cut off from LA and all surrounding areas. Not saying we were hit harder, we weren’t, but there was too much havock in the valley for them to worry over us. We all pulled through ok with unlimited help from strangers as well as friends and neighbors. Everyone chipped in and shared. Not to say things could have changed if we had to wait more than a few weeks, but by the time help really started to arrive we had become a very tight community. I just wanted to share a good senario inthe midst of all the glum and doom that could and would have and actually did happen in LA. We were lucky….you can’t count on that, it was just a welcome turn of events. We prepare better now though because in the last 20 years alot has changed…..unfortunately.
I would like to purchase a power supply generator or whatever to make electric . I want to grow a garden , but for both problems . I am in a Condo with no back yard and no place to plant . In World War 11 I am told people planted gardens ,called victory gardens , but this was only because of food prices being so high ., not due to a disaster which may or may not be called a disaster but was a war . The point was it was considered by neighbors OK to do
so especially if there were stars or flags in your window . Anyway , , there are no generators allowed in my Condo except for maybe in the Club house and this will be given to those whom the Condo Board Chooses to be needed per the accommodations of this , say air conditioning . The reason for this info is that I would have to be able
the equipment for making electric especially
air conditioning as most hurricanes occur in Florida during the summer during tropical heat . As to say buying land , the only none public land is in he
swamp called the Everglades , next to me , owed by the State or National Govt . I do not know what garden clubs are around me and if they would let me in their club as I do not know gardening , or if they would allow me a decent harvest in a disaster as indicated or if they are prepared for this , i.e. have security not to have their food stolen in a disaster .
My thought is that no matter where or what type of situation you currently live in, after a disaster, who is to say you will still be in that “condo”. You can still prepare. I would buy the generator and store it. In a disaster, I don’t think your condo managers are going to care. They will probably be at home handling their own issues. And you can start an indoor garden in one of your rooms if the need presents itself.
Anyone have a recommendation for an organic seed vault?
After listening to these instructions I noticed that you always add Wind Turbans into every application and living in a big city like Houston, TX. a Turbine in my back yard is NOT allowed – period. Solar Panels I can deal with.
I tried to print THE #1 SURVIVAL RESOURCE
and my printer printed out page 1 and 4 lines of page 2. Page 3 came out blank. The notation referring to total pages show only 3 pages but there are many more pages of comments that I would like to have also I checked the paper tray and it was full, so I tried again and got the same results. Is Obama already on to us?
hmmm..I’ve had the tech guys check our end and we don’t see an issue. You might try “print as pdf” and then it’ll save onto your computer — I do that for things I don’t want to lose. (My lovely wife tends to throw away “junk paper”… that’s not always junk.)
I recently purchased a few seed packages of heirloom seeds( 5000 seeds each) to ensure I have plenty for when times get tough for the long haul. If anyone decides to save seeds from store bough veggies-make sure they are from organic veggies. The non- organic GMO veggie seeds will not germinate well from what I have read on reliable patriot sites. Simply they will not work- thanks to being GMO’d by Monsanto (grains) and other bioengineering companies. Whatever makes things as we know I go south- only those with the right info, skills and self reliance will survive especially if it is a multi year scenario. Watch Yucon Men and Alaska the Last Frontier to get an idea of a subsistence lifestyle one will have to lead to survive a long term disaster situation. One must also have the ability to do things like hunt, field dress and prepare game, fabricate many of the material things they need( (ex. shelter, furniture, etc) and farming on a small scale. Life will be harder, but simpler than our current modern life. Other primitive survival skills such as fire building and starting, finding edible plants, as well as, use of firearms, self protection skills, and providing medical aid to oneself or others will be necessary. One will need the mindset to live with frequent danger, be ready for sudden unpredictable situations, and confidence in one’s own skills. this is where months of learning an preparation are necessary to pull this off. Survival manuals and courses will help, but just like learning a new profession, it will take time. I am finding there is much to learn, many tools, supplies, means for food, and weapons to procure for this life changing way to survive. It take months not weeks to do all of this. If you have not started yet, start now. Do something towards the goal of preparedness regardless of how minor. I know it is doable, if you go at if one thing at a time, and one day at a time.
thank you for the information,i grew up as farmer in the philippines still have a lot to learn . thats why! i always tell my kids how to survive if disaster coming. i have been stock filing some canned goods & everything to be prepared. everybody said it’s not gonna happen in America but i as witness since i was here ,it’s not hurt to be prepared.
Thanks a lot for the information.
If martial law is declared, and they are going door to door looking for supplies, the answer is no. No ‘civil’ authority would ask you for such. Treat the requestors as the enemy.
Hey sounds good and all but you have to rotate stock and MRE’s to keep within shelf life. Seeds will only last so long even sealed and kept in a cool dry place. if you are holding water have a extra container you can transfer water to and back to keep it from going bad. don’t forget the bleach.
Bought 6 months of food & a seed vault as well as the entire crisis survival set to teach the kids how to DIY when I am gone.
Thanks for the help,
Sgt. Campbell U.S.M.C. 99-07
To Alice: You asked; This all sounds good, however what if martial law is declared? I have been told that things like stored food could very easily be confiscated by the militia….any comments?
If the Militia you are talking about is working for the corrupt government, you have to ask yourself, is your family and yourself more important to protect and feed or is the government more important. Always remember they as a government serve us, we don’t serve them. They have stolen enough from us (the tax payer) to make their lives easy while we still work hard for what we have or get.
You also have to remember that if Martial Law is called, a lot of the armed forces will not take those orders and will stand with the people because a lot of the military is waking up to the corruption. Sheriffs all over the USA have stated they will not comply with those orders to take people supplies and firearms. Only the corrupt, greedy brainwashed pawns will try and take you’re food, water, clothes and firearms and they will be met with force of about 270 million armed American Militia. Most of us have took an Oath and we will stand by that Oath with our lives to uphold that Oath. Peace and may Yeshua guide you.
The good thing about you knowing Yeshua, is there are a lot of others including me who know also .
Hi Kelly
I am retired military and a retired peace officer I will assure you that if martial law is put in effect they will not be breaking down your door to take your arms or anything else. We in the military are Americas first same with law enforcement. If given an order to do that it would be met with rejection. We all have families and would refuse to do that to our own people. Martial law would only work to protect our own people not disarm or endanger them. Plus we know how many people are armed and I for one would not jeopardize my life to hurt another law abiding American citizens. It has been talked about by most of us in the service especially with the sorry leadership we have in our Government. Most of us love being American but dislike (to put it nicely) the way our country is being run. GOD BLESS ALL AMERICANS. Tim
Hi Tim there should be more people like you. So if your retired you would be between 65 to 75 or older. Believe me when things go down you will be one of the few that will stand with the people because of your training. But there will be a time that morals will be at short hand. And I hope you don’t lose yours God Bless
Specifics of Hardware…
I really need a break down of a parts list of items needed to go solar.Need about 4500 watts and need the amount of cells needed and list of and amounts of parts needed as well as cost of products Please.Iknow you gave worksheets, but i could use a little help such as say example:9 solar cells cost for them.Say the cost of the aluminum housing, basically all the components to make one and then i can figure the rest up to what i need.
You are so exactly right about the food.No way to make it without the food. You can have all the power in the world but obviously without food we are done for.I do believe that GOD will supply all my needs, but he definately made us smart enough to get this going for ourselves. Thanks for now…
JM Might not be able to grow enough to feed the world, but my experience this past summer with a garden spot about 1/4 of an acre? Fed myself, all summer. Fed my daughter, my employees, several friends and neighbors and still had BUSHELS of produce to give to our local homeless shelter. Not to mention I canned, froze and dried enough food to fed me all winter. Get a grip and stop being so all about ME selfish.
Have 2 seed vaults in my freezer as well as my own collected seeds from this year’s garden. I am experimenting with an indoor garden this fall/winter. Has anyone else tried this? Would love to hear from others the good and bad experiences. I am believing WTSHTF seeds may be worth more than Gold as a barter item.
I have a seed packet I purchased at another site stored in my freezer.
The main “crop” I grow and harvest now (every four days) is alfalfa seed sprouts.
Alfalfa seeds are reasonably priced , very nutritious and easy to grow yearround.
There are great tutorial videos on youtube to insure success. Right now I grow $4
worth for about 25 cents.
I like what PowerforPatriots is doing for us, especially the blog which gives us rich, innovative ideas that the video may have overlooked or maybe exaggerated (e.g., prepare food for a full year). A clean water source is obviously a priority in such a crisis. I am thinking you will try to help your friends and neighbors so why not have a surplus of the items you are blessed with or can stock up, then you can share or barter for the items that you may need.
Might better start figuring on how you’re gonna protect this garden because when the children get hungry the parents will get violent. Can you grow enough for everyone, dont think so.
Hello Frank
Yes we have received the seed shipped a few days ago. They will go nicely with my Early Girls and Better Boys. As for being prepared notice the picture < will not be cold. Canning has been great for a few years now just rotating jars great snap beans, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, peas and boiled peanuts. Hog and cow in freezer, eggs in nest each day. Will be rotating 23 – 3 yr old hens out soon for 24 new hens 1 rooster. he has fun !!! Have had seed for the next 2 yrs on hand each yr would not be without them.
I am searching for a fuelless generator now on internet. Lots of possibles but will they work is a big question. If anyone knows of one running I could see close to Georgia please email me — [email protected] — no I am not the man lol
Looking for metal for panel frames now. Will be building panels soon. Have found a possible tracking device. Still need to study it to see if it is real or just a fake for money.
Water — storage of water for garden is one thing for drinking is something else. If storing for garden, have not done this at all, How long will water stay useable. without bugs and without bacteria growing ??? If in metal drum this will be a problem with rust so outlet will need to be above bottom with a filter if using drip water system. If plastic drum be sure it white or bacteria will grow so a filter will be needed here to, and if freeze comes could the drum be damaged ?? Have had 1 – 250 gallon container with rain water in it freeze and valve split in half. So if any water is stored outside be sure you can circular water through in filter when a freeze comes
As for God he gave me the ability to think and provide for wife and family. I will use the thinking the best way I can improving as I learn period
Search the web – we bought two 55 gallon plastic drums a few months ago and it only took a couple of weeks to fill them from our plastic kiddie pool with rain water for garden, yard, car washing, etc. Our drums are black so we put them in shady spot in yard. As to bugs, my husband made filters for opening in top out of window screen mesh and bolted them on. As to bacteria, there are products out there that keep that down without damaging the plastic. As to the valve splitting, there are valves out there you can put on your valve and leave original valve open in winter. The new valves release water when the pressure gets to a certain level.
This all sounds good, however what if martial law is declared? I have been told that things like stored food could very easily be confiscated by the militia….any comments?
I have been using sea solids to grow veggies, never seen anthing like it. check it out at seaagri.com
OK, now I must actually start setting up my solar panel. You haven’t given me a catalogue or other source for the specific hardware needed.
I live in Montana and humidity is not a problem. I started buying and saving seed when “Seeds Of Change” started up in New Mexico years ago. Just this year I planted some of their seed from 1999 and it was still good. The company has been taken over by Mars and if you google S.O.C. there are questions there about Monsanto owning SOC. So I definitely won’t buy anything from them.
Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds as well as some other companies mentioned in their catalog are worth investigating. These days it’s simple to order from online catalogs or just have them send you a printed catalog. The pictures and descriptions of different varieties have always been my downfall.
The important thing is ‘buy good seed’! It will probably cost $2 to $3 bucks for each variety but they are an investment in your future as you and your family and friends can be planting the same varieties 50 years from now and they will be acclimated to your area.
(Edward Tully: I just yesterday transplanted tomatoes into an aquaponics setup that I made from an IBC container. I’m anxious to see how it goes. This also gives you probably 150 gallons of water storage as well.)
Having been through the inflation and fuel shortages of the 70’s as well as a follower of Howard Ruff’s similar views as shown here, I am not so quick to assume food shortages of any length. I finally rid myself of a thirty year old food cache’ that i only used a little and that not because of necessity. Good quality, nitrogen packed etc, but overkill for sure and way too back to the land. A few weeks worth of staples that require little cooking and store well –even if wet OK but America remains a very solid breadbasket as a whole. Think through the history and the local conditions before going whole hog.
I don’t regret having had an ‘insurance policy of food’, but have accepted the lessons of history. Weeks is reasonable–months is a waste of resources. Keep in mind that whole foods last longer and are more nutritious but you have to store food your family will actually eat and still be nutritious–don’t forget vitamins, oil, and spices if your worried about the long haul.
I am 70 years old. I have a garden with flowers, trees and veggies in spite of the fact that I am a retired teacher living in a mobile home village and have a creek in my back yard. It is not fit for consumption, but it is aesthetically pleasing. I haven’t planted my good seeds yet because I am adjusting to this new area. Prior I was in the high desert and had a huge garden with grapes, an apple, pear, comquat, mulberry, and cherry tree-all of which I planted myself and enjoyed bountiful harvests. I also grew fantastic artichokes,(I had so many I took them to work and shared with the rest of the faculty) parsely, mint, sage, strawberries, grapes, cantelope. I struggled with veggies.
Here my garden so far has produced chard, romaine, 2 or 3 types of tomatoes, parsely, string beans, and I planted an avacado tree and an orange tree-young and not producing yet. My radishes and corn are sprouting. Two beautiful artichokes are ripening. I have been eating my chard and romaine-have let some go to seed. My spearmint and peppermint have established finally. At this point it is not enough to sustain me but I keep improving. I have to grow much in containers (new for me). Also I don’t get a lot of sun except on my front porch and there it is scorching because of the reflective heat from driveway. I have a long way to go but I’m working on it. My goal is to provide enough veggies and fruit to be the main source of my diet and if necessary provide for my 2 sons who live in the area. Thank you for all your info and the seeds. Much appreciated. Janette
I purchased your CD to give to the men at my church. Our church has grown and we bought a school house that was no longer in use. As we have money we are fixing it up. The electricity is on and the bill for 1 month is 1600+. That is why when I saw your advertisement I was excited to possibly help our new church. The man I gave the CD to has viewed it and says that would be a great thing to do. And in the long run our church could be off the grid. I am excited to think how much the money we save can be used for good for others.
If by chance you would like to help us reach our goal I am sure your assistance would be greatly appreciated. If not thank you for the knowledge.
What a great idea EJ. Keep an eye out later in the summer for an email about a online class series that we will be running. We’ll be running through the whole planning and install process in a workshop format. Might be a great thing for the leaders of your church to invest in.
best idea.
Look up my son, Mark Kirkwood’s web page: biotechturetraining.com for how to make an aquaponics nursery. Very informative for getting off the grid and being completely self-sufficient in your own house and small amount of land. Lot’s about alternative heating, electricity, rain water storage and use. Too much info. to tell here.
What about water? Infinitely more important and other than power usually one of the first things to go. :-|
Water is #1 as we can’t live more than a few days without it! Stockpiling what you already use and eat is good but you need to have a knowledge of the wild plants that can sustain you too. A garden and seeds is great too! Really anything that conserves and helps produce what we need is going a long way to self reliance.
I was exposed to the Mormon church many years ago and they have always said to have a 2 year supply of food, so if anyone needs a good source that is one! I would think that learning to conserve on what we have is the best place to start!
Nope – most important is water, and those who are really prepared have a rainwater collection system. I can help there Frank – I have 28,500 gallons of storage. Second is food and then the third is shelter. Around 4 is the ability to defend yourself to protect all of the above. Getting into Ham Radio will help keep you informed as to what is really going on – not what the Government wants to tell you is going on.. If you live near the Kerrville, TX go to http://www.kerrhams.org and we can help you get started into Ham Radio. I am the club secretary.
I’m a Ham too!! Anyway I so agree, Water is what is needed most. I’m just worried about a drought.
bought a seed vault, food stores and started this back in 2008. I am a city girl but have bought books on gardening to learn.
I am also learning first aide, and how herbs & household item can be used for medical purposes should myfamily get sick.
I already have your tubular seed safe you show in the video, plus one cigarette box, size, of what
I think is just a smaller version.
Hi Frank,
I started buying all the seed varieties of food we love years ago. I liked the saving method you showed, re-purposing jars & bottles. I save all of these anyway to reuse around the house but loved this idea. This video reminded me again why I do these things. This year I have added tons of flowers & herbs to my seed collection. My thought initially was because we’ve added Mason bees to our property to help our apple trees. Our next step is to add honey bees, which I’ll be getting set up in May. I bought the herbs & flowers for the bees & birds, but was reminded by you & the video of the importance of growing them for the kitchen.
Thanks for the continuing education!
Terri
Each year we plant a garden. Some years are better than others. Much of it is canned come harvest time, such as corn, tomatoes. Turnips, potatoes and oinions keep pretty good over the winter. Not too much ever goes to waste, as raising a few pigs, they get weeds and pea plants, minus the peas, etc. We always gather rain water when ever to water our livestock to save on our well water. during the summer months. But of course, always room for improvement.
seeds? The growing season in my area has been shortened by climate change.
I have been looking into a aquaponics setup where one can raise fish and the fish fertilize the plants.
I haven’t received the written info about how this system works; but I’ve been told that one can even use a basement space to produce veggies+fish.
Maybe this system is bunk; but I would be willing to give it a try.
Hi Edward just received my Aquaponics video from Frank and the system is so easy to follow anyone can do it. There is a bit of learning to do like anything else. WE are going over it it some friends and looking to make a go of it on there property as it is out of town and away from the eyes of others. Go for it, I think it a great way to go. We have been gardening know for the last 7 years and we were looking into winter gardening when Frank came up with the system I have heard of the system from others but it sounded to complicated. Know with the video from Frank it is easy to put together because it goes step by set with you and you can make it as big as you want. We will be starting small and building on as we get the hang of it. I don’t think Talapia would work for us as we are in the north country. We are looking at Cat fish and trout good luck and God Bless Linda
have been improving my gardening skills for the past few years to get more produce from smaller spaces. have learned to dehydrate lots of foods. havent canned since I was young but plan on re-learning that skill as well as earth bag building, for food storage and alternate living space. I also use as many heirloom variety seeds/plants in order to save and start my own plants. have inherited many hand tools and the skills to use them while growing up, now I pass that knowledge to my grandkids. I have utilized passive solar bit enjoy moving on to be solar and wind dependant – off grjd, permanently, and helping family and friends also. Thank you for this knowledge!
freeze dried and not dehydrated foods are nutritious. dehydration sucks out the nutrients with the water and what you have remaining is…. a tummy filler and fibre. not a way i want to live. so i store what i can when i can of freeze dried foods. they can be eaten wthout cooking or heating.
.
stick matches with the strikers in air tight 1/2 gallon jars.and where ever there is free book matches i help myself. free is a very good thing. when ever a gas station goes out of business i tell my friends and they go get the empty barrells for burning trash etc. and if necessary a grill over the top and u have a way to cook. (if u do not have the solar facilites that u offer.)
.
and cases of paper goods secured in the attic.moth balls surround the cases so bugs and bats or birds if they get into the attic are discouraged from destroying the paper.no fig leaves here.) inspect annualy as i change the batteries in the smoke detectors.
.
and i make it a point to go each year to every business i can and gather thier old telephone books. more paper and great fire starters. no i don’t have all the answers but these are a few of my favorite things. hope they help you. i have learned………………………………………….. to use it up, wear it out, make it do.or do without.
.
btw i shop “provident pantry” great seeds from them too. also “mountain house”
well kids, that’s a wrap. have a god day:)

Have made small stockpile of dried food, water, canned food, first aid, toiletries, vitamins, propane, charcoal, firewood, fuel for generator and chainsaw, seeds for vegetable garden and the list goes on.The big problem is organizing this stuff to keep it from going bad and keeping it rotated so it remains fresh.I have not figured how to keep it out of the hands of a government who could confiscate it.Even underground vaults can be detected.People may scoff but faith in God to see you through is a good idea.3 to 4 years worth of stockpiled food for a family of 6 at todays store prices amounts to 46,800.00 to 62,400.00.This is beyond the average working mans ability to aquire with any haste. Also how do you replace it if tornado, flood, mould or other problem destroys it ?What do you do if government goons take it ?
I’ve been stock piling for years now and glad to know about the seed vaulting is becoming a growing endeavor. I got a good feeling about the progression of society today.
strongly agree
It has always been an idea of mine to have a small garden and some live stocks like chickens, but so many of these residential communties don’t allow the practice. I now live in a place where you spend more money to grow tomatoes, egg plants, and corn, etc. than what you will gather. The soil is so pour that if you add peat moss, mulches and top soil it disappears into sand. Everything growing in sometime or the other gets infested with some kind of plant pest. I will have to move for sure if I am to employ any of the ideas, Electric Independence or organic garden, etc.
We have been growing our own food for years now. Gave up the heavy, meat eater diet and went healthy in the late 60’s. Live on a large lot with fruit trees and over 1000 sq ft in garden, harvest rain water, compost almost everything from the kitchen and the yard trimmings, have 6 chickens, fresh eggs rock ! ! ! Grow alot of heirloom produce every season and let some of each variety go to seed for later. Have had great success with canning, dehydrating, freezing, and eating fresh organic tasty vege’s daily. Wish everyone would catch on to the smart way to eat and live. If more of us would do it we could start putting the squeeze on the agro-giant business monopolies, and shut down the fast food, poison peddelers that are killing people by the millions. Why grow and mow a perfect lawn when you can grow your own healthy food ? ? ?
Spread the word people. Enjoy life, don’t hasten death.

i know the need for food storage thanks for the info on seeds storage but i am starting on one thing at a time
I have been a horticulturalist for the past twenty years and come from a family of european gardeners. One of my hobbies is collecting seeds, especially from foods that I’ve never grown before and that list is getting smaller.
We take ourselves away from nature (with our homes and jobs and life styles) only to find that we have to get back into nature just to survive. ‘Craddled in the arms of mother nature’
I’ve. Been. Aware of need for food storage, but have overlooked the need for seeds untill now
Thanks for heads up.
I am a widow who can only accomplish one project at a time. I’m starting with the power grid, then the wind power. Once those are completed, I will be able to build a greenhouse with the seeds. Thanks for inquiring.
Lorie
Mike F: There is soooo much food that grows in New England, throughout the year. In the winter one can harvest spinach, kale, chard, and other greens that were started in July/August, in a cold house (unheated tunnel, hoop, green, etc.) It is also a good way to get some types of seed like broccoli.
Here in the north I have started onion (an easy seed crop), celery and marigolds (to get a head start on this pest trap plant.) -February
Barry, too many nutrients for plants is as bad a too little.
I grow organic seed. It is my passion to grow food and seed in the north. 7 years into it now. http://www.highmowingseeds.com is a good site. I love to teach about this, let me know if you want to know more.
No, our government isn’t perfect, but it’s the oil companies and electric companies I personally object to. While most of us live in economic slavery they are drowning in their own profits….and their CEO’s brag about it at the same time! That’s why I’m turning to solar energy! Of course they don’t want us to become self sufficient….it’s money out of their pockets! We will not only be generating our own electric power but this process will give us our own personal power back! That’s a good feeling!
We are good stewards of our land and growing our own food is just downright healthy! Last year our tomatoes were the best tasting we’ve ever eaten! Anyone can grow tomatoes! The green beans were to die for good! Go America! We Can Do This!! “”Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, ‘I’m possible’.” Audrey Hepburn -and- “The future belongs to those who prepare for it.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Thanks Frank and team for the wake up call!
building power grid and preparing for garden buildind water supply thanks for up date
Hello Sir. I am very fond of your products and suggestions. I just do not get the patriot thing. Why? First a patriot of what? If your against the government your against the land that it governs. So why not stop bashing the government and what it does or does not do and just get on with advertising the benefits of the product. For Me I do not pledge myself to any human government so I am nuetral in their decisions. I await a higher government while respecting the one that I live under. This is because the true God allows them to exist, with a measure of authority which allows us to have roads, police, transportation etc. Yes there will be a time of great trouble which will effect not just us but the hole world which is good reason to consider your product. But what will follow that period all the grain in the world will not be able to save us. We must focus on the Spiritual Food that God provides. Our adherance and loyalty to Him is what will truly be the life saver. One gentlemen mentioned the President is why he is considering these things. Well my answer to that is scriptural. “Do not put your trust in Nobles in which no salvation belongs” All of us need to focus on this. “Getting Our hands on the Real Life” to Close. Im just looking for your products to get me through a short period until the protection that God provides kicks in. Remember the Manna.
Lloyd, I am a patriot myself, but only of the “Government under God”
that was set up by the founding fathers because the government that
rules today is NOT what it is supposed to be. When I read his comments
this is what I think of. Lets not forget that God allowed the Nazis to
exist as well and as bad as the government gets I know it is the
citizens who are responsible for keeping our rulers in check, not God.
He sent us here to be tried and tested, part of that test is to see just
how much evil we will allow before we ask for His help in restoring a
righteous way of life. Food storage, gardening, self-sufficiency, all
of these things are what smart people do to help ourselves and our neighbors along so that we will not be one of the many who don’t make it before the second coming. After all, God helps those who help themselves. We have to do our part, we have to try.
Thank you for pointing this out to those who are learning about self reliance and preparedness for unexpected changes to the world as we know it. For myself, my choice to purchase your educational material represents third stage readiness not first stage action.
I so much want to buy this seed vault but I spent all my money on the power for patriots and Im trying to figure out a way to purchase some land and move my family out of california. I will eventually purchase the seeds and then some. thanks for all you do for our future.
sincerly
Scott R. Owens
Thanks for the info. It’s amazing to me that anyone needs to be told about growing food, putting food up and reserving seeds as our family has been doing this for a hundred years. That’s just the way we have always lived. My garden is over 1 acre, and living in the South, we can literally grow food year round. We always save our seeds for future years, and I freeze my seeds. They will be good for 10 years. Stored outside of the freezer, in a cool dark place, they will be good for about 3 years. I can most of my items, freeze some like broccoli, brussel spouts, peppers, and I dehydrate many of my crops. Mushrooms are gathered wild and dehydrated as well. We live on a two hundred acre farm, and I know where all the wild food grows, like blueberries, raspberries, persimmons, onions, wild cherries, mayapples, white oak acorns and such. Don’t have to tend to that, it’s all gifts from God.
I have been growing a garden for years now.
I purchased your product for the information, and I believe it’s good to have this knowledge. However, I prefer to focus on good things because you know that whatever you focus on becomes your reality. Let’s focus on happiness, health and peace, shall we?
Having purchased Heritage Seeds from a seed catalog in 2009, I know that you can reuse seeds from the plant successfully. I also purchased 3 seed vaults from Frank for future insurance. Frank’s seed vault puts the seeds I need in one vault. Please continue with practical ideas to give us at least a shot at indpedence. Dave Bergman
I like what Scott had to say.
sometimes i think all of this is overkill and then i get my electric bill or we lose power again.
I am sorry to say ‘i do not trust our government’ especially this one so i am taking what steps
i can and hope i never need them or if i do that they are enough. i am too old for many things but what i can i will do. i very much appreciate all that you do to help and i am happy for that help. barbara may
While food is certainly important in a disaster, potable water is even more so.
A person can live up to 40 days without food, Jesus did it if you’ll recall.
Without potable water, you’d be lucky to last four days.
I agree, food can not be grown without water…. water is number 1.
Thank you for all the hard your you all put into getting this information. I’ m 67 years old and did not understand all of this until this president got in office and I started looking for answered. I do have 3 container of your “Seed Vault” and the “Liberty Seed Vault”.
Jettie from Florida, USA.
Open pollinated, renewable seed packets are nothing new and are offered on most seed supply sites. I have seen them for the past three years, ever since I started to grow my own food on 1/2 acres of garden. Other ideas you have are high maintenance and probably will not be used because noone knows how long before anarchy. I prefer to heavily arm myself instead because there will be many people trying to take what I have accumulated by force. Nothing new here. Just do your own research and get ready to fight for what you have.
I would like to build an agroponic garden. with fish & vegetables. I have the seed vault , but don’t know where to get the fish , or 1st building plans for this.. Do you have some direction I can take?
We sit on 2.5 acres and have a aerobic septic system that spays out over the back half of our lot , we are in sandy loam and lots of trees, we are thinking about putting a garden in that spray area.
Hello frank.
Thanks for the info. Great minds think alike. I’ve been preparing for years and have used my resources during long power outages. And have even seen my road disappear for days due to beaver dams blowing and during hurricane Irene . It’s well worth the time invested
I was hoping you had literature on micro hydro if so could you contact me with this info
I just want to thank you for any and all information you can pass along to all of us. It is very frightening for me and I would imagine all that are alone and no place to grow a garden or even raise a plant. I get only a Northern exposure. Never any direct sun light. Being on the second floor and no yard space at all.
But appreciate your info and any ideas to help any of us.
bought 10acres in 1974 and told people about the use of wind &solar power I was told I’m crazy now my children are thinking my way Thank you. I’m not crazy only 79yrs old.

Hi Der Frank Bates
All I can say is you may have come a long ways with this product and you may have something
here and that is a good thing okay?
As far as the CD’s goes it seemed kind of over kill and a waste of product not unless I am missing something here!”
Like the Solar power system and Wind power system is all in the introduction CD okay and the people in both of them did a wonderful job explaining it from start to finish?
But the guy you are using to explain the Solar Installation Super pack with his ah ah ah is enough to drive me and everybody here that was watching it nuts!”
He almost sounds like he needs to study a bunch more.
The Guy that did the Off Grid Living did a wonderful job and the way he was explaining it all from start to finish and having his wife at the end of the CD explaining how it all worked for her in the home and what to expect out of living off the grid also did a wonderful job explaining it all and what to expect and what not to expect out of this whole system!”
Frank kudos to the first two guys and the husband and wife team we feel they will go places okay?
Now it will take some time to get the cash together so we can make this all happen.
Good luck on your venture for the future Frank you will make it and you have super ideas here.
Thank you for helping us out in getting started on your product Power 4 Patriots.
Truly always Jaak Langendoen
My wife Patty and I have been planting a garden for years. As well as canning vegetables for the winter season. We haven’t had much luck with broccoli, cauliflower or brussels sprouts.
A friend of mine for the Chicago area and I have purchased an old school house on almost 3 acres of ground. Next year we are going to expand our garden to about 1 acre of that ground. We plan to run a food and clothing pantry there as well. We live in a very depressed part of extreme south eastern Illinois. We are looking forward to generating our own power as well.
where do I get the seeds?
oh I keep seeds on hand and grow a garden every year can some and haven’t bought tomatoes this year. I have learned to pickle and can peppers too.
Were can i find a seed vault in Chico CA or Oroville CA. 95966 or were can i buy a lot of seeds to start my own food vault.
Thanks for the info but I plan on using my military survival school training (both water, ground and jungle) to keep my family with the basic needs to survive. 17 years of continuous training in the Air Force should do the trick.
We have seeds, food & water containers. We are looking for more land.
I’m just waiting on my boxes . It has my seed vault in it . I’ve been growing a garden for years and have quit a collection of my own seeds . We canned and froze quit a bit this last summer . We are working on dehydrating our own recipes of add water , heat and eat meals . Proper dehydration and vacume sealing works well for putting up food . @ Margie Yarber get him to read “The Harbinger ” by Jonathan Cahn or “Agenda 21” by Glenn Beck . If either of these books along with the Bible and what’s going on in the world today doesn’t get him up and active . Sorry sweetie but NOTHING will and it’ll all be up to you . He will be apologizing and thanking you all at the same time one day soon .
it will be dfficult to germinate and grow enough of these seeds to live on in the new england where i live. can’t grow them outside in the winter. mike f.
You have very important information, but I just cannot get my husband to pay attention to any thing that he should. All that he is interested in is TV and OLD western movies. He is in the next room at this moment watching TV, and cares nothing about the things which I have been trying to tell him for a long time. Sincerely, Margie
We are desperate for water here…
since i found out a long time ago that the gov will one day try to put us all under ther total control when iwas in the usmc in 1959 and my di inlighted me what was realy goneing on in this cournty i started keep a serviale kit stored i am now 68 years old and as long as i can i will servie thank you for what your doneing god bleas you and your famley
I am already ready for whatever? You also should mention arms and ammo.
We have had a garden for a number of years and do save some of our seeds. We have filled up one freezer with okra, green beans, corn, tomatoes had lots of bell peppers but did not freeze any or can not sure how to fix bell peppers. We got custody of our grandsons this year and have been so busy with them that have not done all we wanted with the garden.
Retha Harris
Okay, what do we stock pile besides seeds? My guess is that your the source for the seeds, right?
Monsanto has already poisoned most of the seeds, and genetically modifide some of them to only produce once. Therefor the seeds from the next plant are sterile and will not reproduce, causing you to buy new seeds. Purchase local seed only. I have all my food supplies and am working on the seed bank now. Thanks
A practical first step that I am working on at present Is not preparing for success in a disaster but I am going to build a small dome greenhouse for family produce. In case of a disaster it will become an emergency food supply if no disaster arrives then it will be a fun project having home grown groceries. I have had a pretty small greenhouse and used a square foot growing system it is pretty awsome what a small (tiny actually) growing space can produce using the square foot gardening system in a small greenhouse type of shelter growing area.
I liked the domed greenhouse idea best because of the water tank to temper the inside enviroment / temperature eliminates a lot of the need for outside energy and can work as an emergency shelter.
As an after thoght Try getting an inexpensive mini greenhouse and experiment
Harold B
Too much talk and not enough doing!
I hope this will put Monsanto Seeds in its place. They are interfering with the third world countries by monopolizing the seed market so that they will become the sole source for seeds in Africa. Let US not become so greedy that we become like them. Read Genesis, especially the part about Joseph and how he distributed grain to Egypt during the famine.Gen37-50.
Water is the most important item by far.Without good drinking water you will die in less than a week.I suggest a good gravity filter like a berkey.Make sure you have enough water stored in a tank in the backyard or garage, or corner tanks if you are in an apertment.Corner tanks are sold by Honeyville Farms. You must have water to run through your filter, so you can survive. You must have vitamines and medical suplies, as well as food.I suggest Holly Deyos book “Dare To Prepare” its the bible and will teach you verything you need. You will need to prepare, I’m sure of it.
G’day Frank, wow! wonderful what you’re doing! You’re a good man!
Me! What have I done? I have:
seeds and seeds and seeds;
a collection of food producing plants
water tanks for drinking water only
water tanks for the garden
a generator
a water purifier / filter to produce drinking water if there’s some “water” here or near
DVDs etc
an album of food producing plants I grow
your books are on the way to me
what price the first set if it too arrives here?
best to you

Correction, Wayne. It’s Occupational Therapy.
People, please pray for Wayne Baumgardner! Wayne, get some physical therapy, occupation therapy and work your butt off. You also need that same sense of being a doer and a positive attitude. You will be amazed at how far you can get!
If one runs out of food and water after a crisis and money is no good. Then to get what you need, YOU NEED to have GUNS, Having a GUN (GUNS) will get you anything you need from Food to water. Having GUNS will keep you ALIVE!!! And staying ALIVE is the only thing that matters!
I have been purchasing 25 yr.shelf life foods for several years and canning with other family members. We are also storing water, staples etc. I have purchased heirloom seeds.
This article has perked my interest. Please give more info.
i accidently deleated the first free gift sent to my email. could you please resend it. i didnt get a chance to read it….. and yes i have already bought a number of seeds. but hope to buy more in the near futer…i love your input into these things. its a big help thanks.
How long does it take to get books and DVD’s on “how to” for the solar and wind power items?
I think water and then food.
Me and my wife have started a green house in our back yard, to help supplement our garden during the winter months. We save the seeds from the harvests in our summer garden to use in the green house. We have also planted fruit trees, Fig-Orange-Apple etc.
Mabel,
I only have a cell phone and I guard the number ferociously. (no, grocery store checkout person, you may NOT have my number). If you have a question that you do not want to post publicly, you may email it to [email protected] and customer service will forward it to my personal email account. – Frank
Thank you for your insight on the need to be prepared for anything. Even though We just bought a home and have very little to get started with, I am determined to take your advise and begin putting the odds of surviving back on our side by taking the steps you have laid out in, not only this article but the independent energy solution as well. Thanks
Thanks for the seed tip, A great idea, will start saving today, with seeds I dried and put asside from the halloween pumkins.
It’s amazing just how many seeds are in one pumpkin. and squash etc.
They reseed quite well, too. Many years I will have random pumpkins growing out of my compost pile or other places where the wildlife has taken older pumpkins.
I love your articles and I am diligently working on my solar panels. I am already preparing for when the s**t hits the fan and stores will no longer be stocked. I am trying to ‘can’ at least a years worth of foods that I am growing myself. Also trading with neighbors that grow different veggies. My next plan is to get a few chickens so I’ll have eggs and meat and since I only have a couple of acres I might get a goat or two instead of a cow for milk.
Great I idea…never thought of it!!
i have your—seed vault + other seeds small wind power and small solar
I had been gardening all my life and had a huge garden and always sold delicious and mouth watering sweet corn and tomatoes. Then, I had a stroke and now I am a worthless dependent cripple trying to make out on disability and a few VA Health Benefits, pitty I didn’t die during the stroke, I was always a doer, not one to sit on my ass. The frustration is killing me, Please pray for me.
I also have caned some food this summer it is only a start
We had a tiny garden this year we stocked up on food that are non perishable we have a generator gas powered and we have bought your video for being able to be self reliant for power thank you for the information that will help with this
Aquaponics – simple, easy, cost effective, cyclic, works.
Equation: water, fish (tilapia), plants equal never-ending food supply. And, a little common sense, attention to detail, and a minimum measure of brainpower.
Water recycles from fish to plant; plant to fish. Water loss is minimal due to evaporation.
Tilapia produce an ample amount of fertilizer for the plants.
Plants use the water and fertilizer. Duck weed is a favorite for tilapia. Tilapia are highly disease resistant and highly reproductive. Reproduce under 6 months. Frying pan ready under a year.
End result: Fish for protein; plants for vital nutrients for humans.
Learning how to properly filter and balance are experience and brain work, but fun and interesting.
Great backyard survival kit for the whole community. Don’t name the fish!!!!
if you cant run my car and home with hydrogen from my garden hose DO NOT TALK TO ME AGAIN
Explain please.
Canning is only one form of preserving. And it will only be possible if you have jars, lids, and the energy source to do the job. The ancient civilizations also used root cellars, smoking, drying, pickling, & other methods of preserving. Amazon offers books on all of these subjects. As far as saving your own seeds for future growing, it is an art form that needs education. Buying the right seeds is only the beginning. I like the book “The Complete Guide to Saving Seeds”. To attempt saving seeds without education is like building a house without a blueprint. It can be done, but you will struggle. Growing in extreme weather locations like AZ or AK….You need to start by researching what will grow in those areas first. AZ native seed link: http://www.nativeseeds.org/pdf/seedlistingcatalog.pdf Why try to rewrite history. Instead, learn from it. Buy BOOKS< BOOKS & MORE BOOKS!!!! If the grid goes down, you will not be able to run to google for your answers. The smart survivalist have incredible home libraries on every subject. And the extremely smart survivalist form groups of people like them. The only way to survive will be in groups of like minded people who know how to protect themselves. The dumb survivalist are the ones who think they will be able to stand alone…They will be easily taken over by mobs. There is safety in numbers….But it begins with the right kind of people who know how to care for each other and who are prepared to protect their community. Education & Community Organization is the key.
@Cappy – Here is another water filter that is inexpensive and supposed to be good.

@Judy – Mulch can help conserve water. What type you use will probably depend on the climate where you live. Planting a wide variety of crops with somewhat different watering and temperature requirements can at least assure that you end up with something to eat if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate. As for the squash bugs, you can try planting Nasturtium or Dill among the squash. Google “companion planting” or “natural pest control” for more ideas.
TEACH THEM TO FISH, THEY WILL EAT FOREVER!! What a super-great thought. Thanx all for sharing, looking forward to more survival-tips………………………..
We live in a cold climate (Alaska) with only 5 months of frost free ground at best. Would your non genetic altered seeds produce in such a short growing season and climate? I think the concept of being self reliant is most important.
http://www.seychelle.com/ is the answer to water..
I have grown my own garden for years. The fresh veg are the best anyway.Canning is getting to be a lost art.
i wish to know what: s the best nutrition seeds
Thank you for all the tips. Yes, water is vital!!! We were in a severe drought this year and if the water had been turned off, there would be no way to keep the garden watered. As it was, I was watering many.. many hours each day. If this continues, I’m not sure what to do for gardening…I didn’t even consider the fact that after having the heirloom seeds that the weather would be this bad…Many of the seeds I collected this year may not be good enough to grow next year…Many of the bean seeds are not as big as they should be. Some things didn’t seed at all…I saved kohlrabi from last year and they were supposed to seed this year…nothing…Squash was eating by the ravenous squash bugs..Gardening is great, if mother nature cooperates!!
Frank,
I just started my business with shelf reliance. They have wonderful tasting freeze dried food with a shelf life of 20-30 years for most items and all you have to add is water. Not only all the staples but they have butter, honey and other foods that you would use in cooking, even TVP for those that are vegetarians. This food is also great for hunters, and back packers. The food is light weight and all natural. They have a way for people to start collecting food without breaking the budget. Check out my website. http://www.faith.shelfreliance.com.

All good advice – assuming everyone in the area is also prepared with food stocks etc etc.
The only nagging problem I have, is how do I protect my family and our food bounty from groups of desperate starving people facing death. It doesn’t take long for civilised people to become uncivilised.
Sharing would be noble, but would be unsustainable for a long period.
Obviously it would depend on the disaster, and the proposed time taken for recovery, but I have seen fighting and other aggression within 2-3 days in people without any food.
Interesting information. I have found it to be helpful. How far are we from being able to proceed with
wind turbines, etc.
I started collecting heirloom seeds a few years ago, and I am still learning what will and will not grow successfully in my area. Becoming skilled at growing and preserving enough to feed your family throughout the year takes time. My advice to people is don’t wait until things get really bad. Start now, so you will be well prepared when you need to be.
I have had good luck growing vegetables in containers. The containers don’t need to be expensive flower pots. I have used those flat tubs sold in home improvement stores for mixing concrete, plastic storage buckets and tote boxes, old pots and pans with broken handles, worn out car tires—basically anything that will hold some dirt and can have holes drilled in the bottom for drainage.
When choosing what to grow, look for plants that are well adapted to the climate where you live. Also, don’t overlook wild edibles that grow in your area. Many common plants considered weeds, and even some grown as ornamental flowers, can be used for food. An added bonus is that people who would steal from you probably won’t recognize these as food.
Seeds are a must, but they are worthless without water and the land to grow them on. Also store all types of GRAIN. Grain can be sprouted in two days and it will store for years. (Unlike a garden that takes months to mature). Grain is a survival food. But NONE of these will help you to live if you do not have>>> WATER>>>WATER>>>WATER>>>First and foremost! If anyone reading this blog is serious about survival, they would move to the country and buy land with a water source. Without water…you have nothing. Seeds will not keep you alive without water first. After you move, then buy seeds and grains. Then…Be willing to SHARE or buy GUNS to protect yourself when the evil gangs come to steal and murder because they are dying of hunger. Most people will not give up their extravagant metro lifestyle, big houses and worldly riches for a life with chickens, manure and shovels, so to them…. Good Luck!!! True survival requires sacrifice and a lifestyle change. A bunch of seeds is a waist of money without WATER and a plan.
“Sundog” I have been around gardening all my life I understood how it works however if a person is just buying seeds to have to plant a garden when the crisis hits your to late. The only way this works is if you have a garden every year and can and store the food you grow. I have no problem sharing but when you live on the outskirts of a small town sharing won’t be an option it will be a gun to the head and hand over the food, in a crisis people don’t use please and thank you they take for their own survival.
Bob Halpern.you and your wife are living the life.
macaw50 the shade cloth idea is great. I would not have thought of that.
M Nahlen your point about non-hybrid seeds is so very important. Those should be the only kind bought, or stored.
Ron, perhaps a greenhouse would work for you. Or you could just see what grows naturally, find out what use it is and stock, preserve and offer for sale that thing. If cactus are plentiful, perhaps you can make a go with the fruit. Nopalea comes to my mind.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8VmzQgZN_g
I really don’t know where it grows specifically, but you are in a desert area, and cactus grow there. If you do the due diligence you can come up with a solution.
All the best, Ron.

I started putting non-hybrid seeds away several years ago. I plant my garden from the oldest seeds that I have so that the freshest seeds are for future use. Stored seeds have a short life for proper germination, about 5 years. I store my seeds in packets in plastic jars in a 5 gallon sealable plastic bucket. Label jars with seed name and date harvested or bought. Only store properly dried seeds or they will mildue.
My note is to “Hotrod”. Just a few notes:
1. Gardens can produce food all year round, even if the weather won’t let it grow green plants all year round. But you’d have to be a gardener to know that.
2. Garden food is best when (willingly) shared with friends and neighbors.
3. Starting a garden is a start. Maybe your neighbors will grow one also…or start a community garden!
4. Doing something the wrong way is better than doing nothing…because at least we will LEARN.
5. Henny Penny gave her neighbors the opportunity to show they were friends.
My wife and I have have our home, dairy goat barn, 1,200 sq. ft. garage, and a 100 yard gun range on an 8 acre homesite, with three sides fenced securely, three locked front gates, two wells, two septic systems and drain fields, citrus trees, vegetable garden, chicken coop and run, and a small seed bank, which is growing, all at the end of a paved road. I have 420′ on the east side open to the 7,700 acre Tenoroc (Saddle Creek) fishing, wildlife and birding center. We are going to fence in the east section where our woods begin, but leave the other side of our woods unfenced to the park. This will allow us to continue to hunt wild hog, squirrel, turkey and and much more wandering on our property, and shoot coyotes to protect the goats.Great fishing is just a short walk through our woods, into the park.
Though we have a generator and lots of service equipment, we are just getting to the point of adding energy sources. This is all hard to deal with at the age of 69, but truly necessary.
Your guidance is very valuable. Thank you.
Bob Halpern.
How in the world will you keep your garden when your the only guy in your neighborhood with a garden, good luck you’ll need an army to guard the thing. All a garden will do is feed the theif who steals it. Plus think about how long a garden takes to grow food, better hope the crisis is at the right time otherwise you’ll be dead before the harvest.

I was told that their are people with web sites selling seeds like crazy and they are not good. I was told you need heirloom seeds that re-seed so you have seeds forever. The seeds that bogus web sites are selling are the hybrids and don’t re-seed.Do you know of a long standing heirloom seed company that is the real deal?
Why yes. Yes I do. I found a guy that supplies great seeds and I’ve had him package them for longer term storage just for me. I do trust the seeds: http://www.survivalseeds4patriots.com/
I have not started yet, but beleive I am going to start. I do not know whats coming buy it will be BAD! Im unemployed & havent alot of money, but what ever I can aford, Im going to start. I cannt do it all at once, a panal here a panal there, stock up on food when ever I can. May take awhile but I mwill get everything done. Thanks to you Frank Bates for opening my eyes!
Thaqnk you again Duane
Frank, Thanks For all you do. I’ll be in be in touch
Frank,
I have just lost my job of 11 years and now I want to work more on getting better prepared. I just bought your video and will update you with my review. I know it is important to stock up and to take stock in your family by providing and preparig the best you can. I am using my time well and I have none to spare….My husband has planted a garden for the past three years and he has a green thumb except for corn he cannot get it to grow, any answers for this one?
I keep a stock of unused garden seeds in a coffee can in the refrigerator, along with any/all packets of silica gel to keep things dry. I also recently purchased a container of non-hybrid vegetable seeds, & plan to buy more. It is scary, but not nearly as scary as the prospect of no food! I live alone, but I have children & grandchildren in the area, & feel that I must prepare for all of us, since they are younger & much more optomistic than I am!
Frank,
Good points. all the power and ammo in the world will not help if you have no food or freshwater.
It is important to have a supply of fresh water, either stored in bulk, or a way to make bad water clean, like a Katadyn water filter. in desert areas you may have to resort to using a ‘solar still’, to pull water from the ground and vegative matter. google all these things and read up. Wells are good, but look into getting water from them if the pumps give out (Bailer system). you can live without food for 30 days, but you will die from lack of water is less than 3.
Oh, and another source of heirloom seeds are seed exchanges, where people barter and trade seed. you can find them online or in gardening magazines.
to those living in desert areas, i live in the desert of Western Colorado, and yes the sun is brutal. try floating row covers, mulching with straw hay to hold the water in, and don’t rule out container gardening. Windbreaks of any kind you can think of (blue plastic tarps, pallets, stick fences, etc) will also keep the wind and sun from drying out young plants. ask at the local nursery which varieties grow best in your area, or take a walk in evenings and find an Ol Timer in your area who has a garden that looks like Eden, i am sure he will be happy to let you in on a few secrets of gardening in your area. most important, don’t give up!! keep trying until you find what works for you, your life may well depend on it someday.
We hope things will never get this bad, but forewarned is forearmed. read everything you can get your hands on, then try it!!! when things get bad, you will already know what to do!
Ron
Have you ever tried one of the shade cloths, I picked up one that cut the direct sun by 65%. I still had to water every morning and evening. But the shade cloth helped with the heat of the sun. the tinder plants didn’t just wilt. I live in the deep south (GA) in the summer it gets will over 105 and hotter under the shade cloth it is around 80 to 85 which is about right. Just an idea
Frank, I believe you are right about the seeds. However, living in the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix), I have yet to be able to get a garden growing. The heat just destroys all edible plants. Squash, strawberries, carrots, tomatoes, doesn’t matter what it is, I haven’t found anything to survive the heat. I even tried planting in the early fall (October) when the temperatures begin to drop, but then the freezes of winter kills things off. Maybe there are others here in the Phoenix area that have mastered gardening in this climate and can give some tips to us that are struggling to get stuff to grow.
