Power4Patriots Expert: Meet Kriss, He’s Lived Off-Grid For 5 Years And Is A Solar Expert
Intro Video from the Top 10 Questions From Customers Considering or Implementing Power4Patriots
Scroll down for transcript.
Allen: Okay, hi everybody, this is Allen, I’m with the warehouse that publishes prints and ships the power for patriots hardcopy materials, the DVDs and I’m really excited today because we’ve got on the line a special guest Kriss Bergethon. Hey Kriss, how are you doing?
Kriss: Hey, how is it going everybody?
Allen: We’re really glad to have Kriss here, Kriss is the owner of Solar Sphere which is a company, and I will give you the address in a second, that basically researches and sells and ships solar parts, Off Grid parts, all sorts of stuff that you need to make your own off grid system but not only that, Kriss is an expert in Off-Grid power, not only is he an expert but he’s actually living it everyday. Kriss is really cool about talking about his story but he leaves off the grid out in Colorado, you’ve done that for 5-years Kriss?
Kriss: Yes, 5 years now.
Allen: So that’s amazing, so when we say off grid, it’s true you’re getting all of your power, I mean you’re generating everything yourself is that right?
Kriss: That’s right, we have 1300 watts of solar power and then 400 watts wind generators as well which is convenient because when the sun is out or when the sun is gone we usually have wind so they kind of complement each other nicely.
Allen: Perfect, anyway we’re really glad to have Kriss on the line today because, again, he’s not only an expert on off grid power but he’s living the dream like many of us wish to do, and by the way before I forget Kriss’s website is http://www.spheralsolar.com and you can go research solar panels, systems, DIY kits, lighting, even get a quote for professional installation so it’s a great resource and a Power4Patriots team love to send our customers Kriss’s way because he’s got great stuff at great prices and he’s a super guy who takes care of folks.
Kriss: Thanks Allen, I appreciate that, we feel the same about Power4Patriots for sure.
Allen: Cool, one of the reasons Kriss we’re so excited to have you here is you’ve started to really help supplement and add some, excellent content to Power4Patriots, to go along with what we’ve been publishing, you’ve been helping us add some new stuff and really show some folks some excellent things, so we want to kind of tap your knowledge as an expert, somebody who’s been in the business, he’s been living off the grid for 5 years and really address some of the top 10 questions that we’re getting from customers who are either considering Power4Patriots or have started to implement it.
Kriss: Sounds great, I’m happy to answer your questions, I love talking about solar.
Allen: Okay cool, well, I’ve got our list of handy dandy questions right here.
Kriss: Got mine too.
Allen: Okay, let’s delve right in…

Watch the next video in the series: What are the top benefits of generating off-grid power using a system like Power4Patriots?
Leave your comments below, we’d love to hear from you!
“yes, I want to enter”
Its already some kind of hot down here in Louisiana. I could use the generator to save foods or run a fan to help with handling the heat when the power goes out. We just had a tornado come through which left thousands without power. They said it could be 2 weeks for some to get the power back on.
Thanks for all y’all do, I appreciate it.
I wanted to copy these words on my computer but I was not able to do it? I could not see a Print so I looked all over but I could not find one?
Dr Dre
I am disappointed the video will not play. Please fix this situation. Thank you in advance
You might need to see if your adobe flash player is up to date, but if it’s still not working, you can see the full videos here: http://vimeo.com/user8414704
I live on the Canadian border and we get a lot of snow and wind. I am concerned about solar panels getting covered with snow and being useless. What have others done to overcome this?
placement and angle are important in high snow areas. I’d consult a local expert.
Kris & Brian, A million thanks to you for coming up with the most sensible, sustainable, economical and pioneering off-grid engineering of Power 4Patriots. I am so excited and thrilled I purchase the promotional packet without really knowing how to install so I hope you don’t get tired of my silly questions when I receive and try to install and test.
I’m just getting into solar and wind. Don’t know anything. It’s because our country has gone down hill, that it’s a matter time before things begin to go south so to speak. Also, our grid will not be able to handle a Solar or man made Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). Most people will say we never been hit yet from the suns solar flares. But we have in the 1800’s it took out the telegraph. Just think what would happen now days wit all our electronic stuff. As for man made EMP, Iran hasn’t got a Nuclear Bomb yet. According to the Bible in the days of Noah it never rain before the flood either. There’s always the first time for everything.
just beginning to learn about solar and wind. excited about it.
I’ve read that putting solar panels on roof is advertising “attack me, I’ve got power!” So I bought solar panels that sit quietly and discretely in back yard behind fence. Husband thinks I’m nutty for worrying about power sources but I think he’ll become a believer when electric bill goes down On top of that, here in Maryland, power company is pathetic and, power goes down every time we have a storm.
Hi Guys! Just bought the P4P package, don’t have much $$$ but wanted to invest in my future; I can relate, being an avid reader of Mother Earth News, my involvement as an Eco-Activist, promoting Green Topics on a newsletter I’m processing trying to get people on a proper path of environmentally safe alternatives to store bought everyday products and “getting it” about the virtues of recycling and waste reduction…if/when I get that campaign under way I’ll link it to my site. Can’t promise I’ll have it up long…again, $$$
Well, let’s see…..We’ve got a lot of food put up..now it’s
time to think about the power. O.K. Kris, let’s go!
Our neighbor across the street just installed solar panels on his roof, and also a windmill on the peak
of his roof. I will check with him about the cost and
ask if his electric meter is running backward or not.
I would be interested if it is working well, the name of the products he has on his roof and where to obtain same. Thanks Leo…………Herb
well I just ordered the upgrade package, but have no clue on how any of this works? how you run your whole house on it, or how would you ever hook it up to your meter box I hope all of this is explained.
Just ordered the materials and anxiously waiting for the information to arrive. I can’t remember if I got the upgrade pkg. or not so will see what I get. Thank you for your help, you are a ray of hope.
My question is, has anyone run up against trouble with the city regarding building permits or the like while using this system? I live in an urban area and I’m concerned they may try to stop me before I can get anywhere with this. I just ordered the package so I haven’t been able to review it to see if there’s info in there about this. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any input about it.
In Minneapolis, building permits are required. Also, the work must be done by contractors, not homeowners, containing licenses issued by the State. We need an electrical permit, a plumbing permit, and a building permit. We also need approval by a zoning commission. This requires prior approval of neighborhood residences. It is political to the core. After it is finished, our property taxes increase. If we use an inverter to connect it to the power grid, we have to deal with the electrical utility for permission. Also, our homeowner insurance increases just because it is there. If the installation gets through all of those hurdles, the utility can claim our maximum electrical capacity as part of their capacity for alternative energy, even though they use none of it. The net result is that the solar array is not cost effective.
so I read all the questions above, i have some of the same, but you only respond to a very few! WHATS THE DEAL?
Frank, I have a family, a company to run, new products to develop, exercise, and maintaining my property to content with (and sleep…sometimes I sleep). I simply don’t have it in me to answer everyone. The joy of a blog, though, is that the entire community is free to respond with thoughts and answers.
Do you have a print icon anywhere on your pages.
Of course!. See those red and blue boxes at the top of each article? The A+ and A- buttons make the font bigger and smaller (so you can SEE) and the printer is for printing!
Check out (fema coffins, exsective orders and amercain consentration camps.) Is something going on we should know about ?
I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia and there IS one near to us(a little too close for my comfort!) if you were to drive the distance you could be there in twenty minutes. And yes there are those awful FEMA coffins, BUT anybody want to know the REAL SHOCKER? There was American soldiers with RUSSIAN soldiers!! What would Russian soldiers be doing here??? Pray and Prep everyone Pray and Prep. If any of you live near a large heavily populated area I would advise you to get yourself and your family out of there unless you want a permanent family vacation at Camp FEMA.
I also want to know if emp’s and grid shut Downs will harm or sabotage everything I just bought and built. What sorta added protection can I use to prevent such case?
Grid shut down is one basic reason for having alternative power capability, but general EMP vulnerability is something else entirely.
So, yes, an EMP can destroy circuitry depending on its force. In 1859 a solar flare caused telegraph lines to overcharge, started fires where wire insulation was inadequate to handle the overload and caused electrical shocks to telegraph operators.
Small and large electrical circuits can be totally fried by powerful solar storms and weaponized EMPs. The only way to possibly protect them is by shielding circuitry with a Faraday cage.
Basically, a circuit needs ‘hardening’ by means of an electrically conducting barrier that completely seals those vulnerable circuits and components from electromagnetic overload pulsing. These occur naturally daily in normal solar flaring, but most electromagnetic radiation is intercepted by our magnetosphere and channeled to the earth’s magnetic poles. We see the charged particles in our atmosphere in auroras.
One way to protect control systems circuits, like in an inverter or charger, is by wrapping them in a ‘space’ blanket of aluminum and mylar and taping the seams completely with aluminum and mylar tape as used with aluminum covered foam insulation. This can only be done if components are being stored for emergency use. The seal has to be very secure for this to work.
As long as radio signals can be blocked, this type of Faraday cage will work to protect fragile electrical components like capacitors and transistors from overload burnout.
You can also use a completely sealable metallic container or wire mesh Faraday cage that can intercept radiation. There are design examples available on the web if you search ‘Faraday cage’.
So, if you’re storing your complete system’s components to assemble afterwards of an EMP event, it is possible to protect them from those potentially damaging events.
But all unprotected or unhardened circuits are subject to being destroyed from overloads. Hope that helps.
I ordered the 27 dollar video and book kit.
I’m hoping its not a scam. I’m planning to move to Texas or Oklahoma in the next two years and was dreaming of living off the grid then stumbled on p4p. Hope its a winner I also planning to build and construct my new house cabin from all of natures resources. And power tools and equipment of course.
I want to know whether or not yhis link will be here permanantly? I am handicapped and it will be a month or two before my cousin can begin working on this.
Christina
Christina,
I don’t have any current plans to remove this link.
Have made my own system on the cheap! Have 2 arrays, 2280, and around 420 for the small panels. In Oregon the light level especially in the Willamette valley is very low, overcast most days and is not a great production place. However mine is working well and am completely off grid in the city! Have about $2500.00 total in the entire system, key to living on any system is to switch all lights to 12 volt LED’s, very bright, low electric need and run all the way to my lowest level of battery power.
I also have 10- 540 watt 140 amp hour AGM batteries.
Heat with propane and cook with it too, total of $36.00 a month when really cold. Have solar water heater this time of year really does not work well, but 8-10 months of year produces 145 degree water!
High five!
I’m in the Willamette Valley too, glad to hear your doing well off the grid here. I hope to be there in the next year or less.
Me too….just South of Eugene !
Weather stinks for Solar !
videom starts and stops coinstantly cant understand crap

I was happy to listen to Power 4 Patriots. I liked what I saw,BUT it is starting to look like
everything else you see on other products . First it starts out with this great price, the next
thing you are hammered to buy something else.I,am fixing to be 59 years old,and have
had 4 hip replacements. So I,am on a very tight income. I would like to know Patriot to
Patriot what is the total cost this is going to cost me. I liked your presentation but I almost
deleted when it was only $27.00 then it started. but wait because you have joined we are
prepared to offer yada yada . Frank I know people have to make money & I can see if ? this works I can save alot.I think you know where I,am going with this. Is this a marketing tool
or is it 4 Patriots. If I don’t get a reply, we can stop it right now, you can refund my money
or I will mark it up that I screwed up & eat the money I have spent.
Thanking you in advance
Greg
Anxious to see the videos, just sorry I had to pay the extra, only have limited income, so wanted only the original set to look into things further until later. was afraid to wait because it said I would not be offered the CDs later if not accepted now. Don’t have a lot of time to watch your videos, etc. As I said, I contacted you from work as I cannot afford to have internet at home, etc. Do not bother to send the videos you wish me to see, they will just be deleted as I do not have the time for them. Thanks anyway. Again, am looking forward to getting your CDs and seeing what I can glean from everything you are sending. Have a good day. Take care.
I await your package.
really looking forward to starting my off grid power. am paying round 2 bills mnth .(am on average plan 91 mnth ) but still rather have that money in my pocket. since live in okla have wind a lot and plenty sunshine. have question bout solar panels. how do they stand up to hail and ez replacement. thanx , david deise
I cannot access any of the videos. I only get a black box with a big red dot in it with a minus sign in that.
CJ, these top 10 videos will remain online for the foreseeable future. If you lose the link, you can just do a search on the main page.
If I want to view the videos later can I? I wish they were downloadable so I don’t have to worry about losing the privilege of watching them.
At 50 years old I remember way back when I was probably in my late teens or early twenty’s,when a man built a perpetual motion generator that defied all scientific law because this one worked. i think i saw an interview on 20/20 i think .then after that broad cast never heard about it or him. I’m sure the govt. and or the power company’s don’t have any knowledge about him or his generator. So I was wondering if ya’ll were the guilty party,ha ha Did any of yall see the broad cast and possibly could I tell us more about it.Also I have two solar hot water heaters that I designed and they almost never need electricity or fire to produce piping hot water. Thanks for any information on the perpetual motion device
The back to the and movement continues. Many have lived off grid. They once called themselves hippies, then back-to -the -land movement.
They were patriots, the hippies, and tried to save their nation from the Viet Nam war, which we knew as a war of colonization.
I lived off-grid for TWELVE years! We had a massive propane tank, propane lights, stove, fridge and furnace. We had a Oval wood and coal range (you know, the kind with a reservoir and warming oven). We had NO T.V., but we did have a generator which we cranked up every Saturday morning to do the laundry in our wringer washing machine, and hanging the clothing outside to dry. We eventually used the generator for ironing, but initially ironed with two irons that my dad picked up at a sanitary landfill (ie: dump), cleaned, removed the electrical components and alternated heating them on the stove (heated resting on a 128 oz. soup can which he cut both end from and then cut it down the side with tin snips and flattened it by running over it with the car tires. Then scrubbed it clean.
I learned to cook on the wood and coal stove, iron with the two irons (after previously spritzing the dry clothing with a sprinkling bottle of water) sew both with a treadle sewing machine, and also COMPLETELY by hand—needle, thread and thimble, period—chop wood and kindling, melt snow in the wintertime for water for the electric iron (no lime build up problems), and read everything from western novels, to science fiction, to romance, to dictionaries, encyclopedias, mom’s Books of Knowledge series, to entertain myself. We played cribbage, monopoly, snakes and ladders, parches, et al.
We did not have running water, so we hauled it, filling 45 gallon drums x 2 from potable water piped down from an artesian well. Dad would drive the flatbed truck from the filling area, a mile away, and then dump each barrel of water into two more barrels on a base behind our house. We children would then periodically carry out two 2.5 gallon buckets from the kitchen to the barrels, dip them in to fill them and then carry them into the house and lift them up to the counter beside the kitchen sink. I started carrying the buckets in when I was nine years old. I got pretty strong.
When we first moved to that property in 1962, we didn’t even have a phone. Got our first one there in 1964—a crank telephone on a party line. Our ring was One long and two shorts. Local phone calls cost .10. Long distance calls were $9.00/min!!! We finally got a real dial phone in 1967.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but I MISS that life! No cable or satellite bills; no video games, food always cooked from scratch, gathering around the piano for a sing-song with my family once a week, verbal interaction…
I used to think that it was a rough life, but compared to now, it was far less stressful! I would do it again, and yes—the sacrifice of giving up my internet and computer would be worth it!!!
I received my first disc in the mail and it was snapped in two and it looks like someone did a burnout on top of it or stomped it into the ground because there is black marks on the package now what. Maybe you can’t mail something in a patriotic package anymore without someone damaging it anymore. This truly is a sad day.
I am 70 years old and worry about the future of my three sons and their families. My oldest son has talked about being off the grid. I want to put this information out there for my sons to be on top of what might happen. The oldest lives in an area where everyone there would benefit from this. I’m hoping that he will pass this around also. Thank you so much…this will give me some peace of mind.
I’m looking forward to finding out what this is all about! I’m a little skeptical, but I believe I also have an open mind to listen and learn.
I am so excited to have stumbled over this program. I cannot wait to receive my package to get started.
I am so excited to have stumbled over this program. I cannot wait to receive my package to get started.
Hoping its not to complicated??
RMJ
Can’t wait to get it.
So far I do not see anything to help build any thing, my main objective is to go solar as soon as I have the funds to build something.
hope it works.
My brother and I have been doing pretty much the same, but we cheat. We have 7 of the Walmart MAXX-29 deep cycle batteries (cranking, rv, deep cycle, trolling) in his pickup. They all charge off the standard alternator, and we generally drive the truck about 30 miles per day. Using those batteries, we have lights and tv and dvd and small chargers for the cellphone and cordless drills, etc. We use LED light bulbs that we bought from Walmart, and we sometimes cheat with a 4k gasoline generator (running a well pump to fill tanks, etc…)
In the wintertime, we heat with propane, and have a boxwood stove for backup.
Always happy to answer questions and offer ideas!
Do you also use a rocket stove?Check it out on youtube.
In 1982 I built a super instated solar house, tried to grow all my own food organically, recycled everything before there was public recycling, and tried to produce my own power.
Ed Kennel, before he went to be program manager at Altamont wind farm in ~1984, said I should stop designing wind mills and use my expertise to design power converters.
I did, but it went on a loitering anti radar cruise missile.
By 1994 I became ashamed that I had fallen for the alternative energy hoax.
I no longer make an effort to eat organic food nor conserve energy.
How could I have been so stupid as to fall for alternative energy?
I blame college.
The wake up call was the 1994 crime bill, when it became clear that the liberals were nothing more than back door communists.
As a consultant solving engineer problems, I think of myself and the guy who can figure out anything.
Pride before the fall, I was a fool to fall for the alternative energy hoax.
When watching the video on how to assemble the Solar Panel, why don’t you show how the buses are soldered together. A diagram of the process would help clarify how to solder them together. All he does in the video is give a verbal explanation and it’s hard to visualize how the process is done.
We’re fixing that…in the meantime, we have a diagram in our technical FAQ.
Loretta, with that big electrical bill, I suspect most of the money you mentioned is going into air-conditioning. Have an infra red thermal analysis done of your house to identify the places which are costing you most.(Many utility companies do this as a free service,) Then you can change things where they need to be changed.
Windows on the summer hot side and winter cold side of your house may need to be modified by covering them with easily removable insulating covers drapes leak to much temperature to help a lot. The covering would be thick like a sleeping bag.
The power you require only needs to equal the heat your home gains or looses. So with a super insulated home, you will need much less electricity. My electrical bill is around $60 per month and my gas bill varies from $20 to $150 per month. My home is 4600 sq ft. but I planned it to be efficient, It does not have air conditioning as it has a 2300 sq ft basement which stays cool most of the summer. Earth sheltering really works.
can I still live off-grid if i’m anti-patriotic?
Of course you can. America is all about being free to be who you are and say what you think without fear of being arrested, as long as you don’t hurt anyone else. Earth-sheltered housing, tight insulation, with solar and wind power works no matter what your political leanings are.
Sure you can…
and you can kiss My All American azz too !
Loretta is to much ,I bet she get’s it done ..
I am an 80 yr old widow in Houston, Texas. I have a 3600 sq. ft. octigone shaped house on one acre. I have put in new siding with insulation and hardie plank, stirophome in the attic, high efficiency a/c units and energy efficient windows (43) of them. My electric bill is still 350. a month plus the gas is 30 to 50 per month. I have (sucker) written across my forehead as nothing I seem to do works. I also have a full house generator that is run on natural gas when the power goes off incase of a hurricane. What am I doing wrong and will this system I just purchased work if I can build it………………………
I have read that you can ask the power company to buy back any overproduction. I am unsure how it is hooked up. It is my intention to do this for my city house and i hope this information I purchased is really good so I can build my Colorado house off the grid
Hi Chris –
You say you live off the grid, but use solar energy. Most solar panels are still required to be connected to the grid in order to work, unless they have their own solar batteries, which are extremely expensive. I was wondering if you have solar batteries for your setup, or are you still technically connected to the grid, and therefore lose your ability to generate solar electricity if the local power were to go out?
Do you have any suggestions for people using solar panels who want to go completely off the grid but can’t afford solar batteries? Thanks.
do you have a refrigerator? how about an electric stove? of course you could run a stove and refrigerator from propane as well as heat your house that way. not much different than most people living in rural areas is it?
you might want to have the link for the web site posted as well.
Thanks,
How does your system fair if an E. M. P. occurs ?
Thanks.
Uncle has solar panels at cabin to run vacuum and lights. After 2 yrs paid $3,000 to replace batteries. Is this to be expected? How is that a savings? Haven’t received videos and books yet.
I have not used the system or seen the books i just bought yesterday. I had hoped the information provided was better than what I could find on the internet. This is something I have been looking to do for sometime.
I do not a little bit about battery failure. Battery sulfation, or
lead acid crystal buildup on your battery plates is by far the most
common cause of battery failure, accounting for 84% of batteries
according to the Battery Council International. We therefore junk our
batteries long before the end of their designed lifespan.
Due to chemical interactions inside a lead battery it must be used on a regular basis or sulfation will occur. Sulfation interferes with the ability of the battery to accept, hold and deliver a charge, and left unchecked will render the battery useless far short of its designed life.
A battery desulfator can be purchased to help eliminate this problem. They are often found on eBay.
I was concerened about the building of the panels yourself that they really do hold up and if there is a problem with break down?
Tom
I have seen panels easily made in Africa by kids. If they are properly built they last a very long time. There are even panels strong enough to walk on and are hail proof.
I have yet to see the book or videos. I hope it is not dated material.
Many metal roofs have panels that can be rolled into place.
Is it possible to download these videos for if I want to view them at my lesure or over and over again? I don’t share my survival info. I just want to learn as much as I can & some times I just need to see it again to do it right.
Ally
Ally, you can always come right back here to the blog. Do a search if you can’t find the direct link to the video you want. I have no plans on taking them down.
Hi Guys – anyone from OZ buy this info? Has anyone installed a system? Where do you get the best prices for parts, etc?
I already have 1000 what array ready to by connected. The panels are in place on my roof and all I need to do is to connect the long cables to the charger.
I also I just started using a thermopanel array of 6 Heliatos panels which is connected to separate tank which preheats the water before in goes to my electric water heater. It is one full day in operation and yesterday I was able to introduce some antifreez in it.
I know that I did not pay the best prices for what I have but I wanted to make the best of my time during this winter.
Is there any way for me to list the equipment I use and have some one make an evaluation?
Regards,
John Andreadakis
the website is http://www.spheralsolar.com check it out. lots of info and parts
I have a home in Michigan that I go to on Holidays and summer. Would this be benificial to me?I converted a few rooms upstairs into a 3 room apartment to supplement S.S. for taxes.I’m 84 years old, bowl 2 or 3 times a week and shovel a horseshoe drive and cut two houses of grass, would I be sticking out my neck too far in trying this? I am very strong ,never going to a doctor in 30 years and never sick so I think I can handle it. Just live on the right food and vitaminjs.
Jean
Hi
Joe u spelled it wrong!
All of this is useless if we don’t get off GAS,,,
Power for patriots lets get the hydrogen system on here an figured out simplified,,, asap.
I am sharing all info with my brother in Ok. as he lives in a rural area and will be very interested in learning about this valuable information.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I just purchased you program and watched the videos; Not much info. Hope that the Manuals are more descriptive. Thanks, Gary
30 years ago upstate new york i built a pelton water wheel and lived off the grid,, not a lot of water
but i had 25 ft. of head pressure.. went to florida now i’m back ..lookin forward to what’s new in batteries,generators,inverters,etc…..
There is no web site named fpheralfolar.com!! So where is at please let me know .
OK
How can you say I’m off the grid while I am still dependent on an ISP to get an internet connection, and I use a third party provider for telephone service? Also, how about natural gas dependence?
im really loen this stuff.
were can i find out how to hook up to my house, do i have to run new wires outlets what. It seems as if your wanting to make bucks too, every time i turn around your selling this or that . I thought I was going to be blown away. Of course I know how to build solar pannel and wind mill so theres nothing tells me what to do with my power once i build the monster. I do relize i have to fork over 2 grand for batteries and materials but, i still want to know if i can hook up to my electrical pannel.
What i understand is i have to build different curcuit for each object, how many batteries do i really need. Thanks,
I don’t have a computer, I only have access to my tablet or my cellphone, it won’t let me view without an Adobe flash player.is there any other way to do it?
You can just read the transcripts or watch the videos on YouTube, if you have a YouTube app. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLakmwUgMPqRMEKOul60mWihuL1k3zgKgS
I’m interested in your system.
Been checking into this and found it is pretty well impossible to acquire
“A” grade wafers on the internet.
There are tons of wafers on ebay that are being called “A” grade when
they are really ‘B” grade or less.
It is very important to use the best material available if one is going to
put his time into it.
I’d want to maximize the life of the system..
Any suggestions regarding a reliable & trusted source of true “A” grade wafers..
Thanks,
With great interest, Dave Bernas…
I have watched the videos of both the solar panels and the wind turbine. Question(s) remain of just how the panels are soldered after they are aligned and individually soldered to each other. The video seems to mention the output wires are into the circular box entry and then later they are inserted through the bottom of the box. How are the final wires fed out of the panels?
Then on the turbine…wires are fed behind the motor/generator but where do they then exit the mast? Are manuals accompanying the dvd?
I am currently re-doing the CD to include those steps in more detail. Have you checked out the technical FAQ? It has some wiring charts that will be helpful to you. http://www.power4patriots.com/support_technical.php
I have just purchased but not received the shipment yet. I am excited, but fear I will not have the expertise needed to build , install and get off grid. I am also disabled. What doe professional installation cost? How long does it take? will I be using my same plugs aand light switches? Paul Otero
WOW thank you, I have two adult children with limb girdle muscular dystrophy and I like to get all the info I can on how to’s and survival.. Food, water etc. So I can give it to them to save themselves if need be and the future of the USA is not looking good since Obama has been in the White House. I have been advocating impeachment for 3 years and he is still here and we are being warned of his intended coup to take over the USA and be its’ dictator, king or whatever he is trying to do for “revenge”on our success and world leadership..
Thanks again,
Alice
Hi,
I have a TED which displays how much power my home uses.
During the day, with the fridge and a few lights on, my computer, etc. it claims I draw about 1200 Watts. However, if I turn on my oven, it jumps to over 6000 watts.
How does a 1300 watt system allow me to use my home normally?
Jon
Hello;
It sounds very interesting, I can’t wait to veiw the video’s and manuals.
Thank you for sharing this info with us.
Asa
Hope to look at what i print off my computer
I am not able to down load any videos on my work computor and I don’t have internet at home. Is there anyway that you could send me these videos so I can put them in my computor or watch them on my TV?
Thank you
I’m sorry. These on here on the blog and on my YouTube channel, but I do not have them on CD. Could you download them to a flash drive at work?
Thank you power 4 patriots, here in Hawaii we are at the mercy of the power companies and need to find a way to eliminate these corps and greedy CEO’s & CFO’s. We are also at the mercy of Shipping Companies, and if fuel prices go up, well you can see the problems with everything being shipped in the Islands, including food and your right seeds will be like Gold, I’ll be buying your Seed Package soon. Thank You this is a Blessing
What about UL certification? I read that any utility put on the mains must be UL certified; does this system with a breaker over ride between the mains and the solar system need to be certified? What is the name of the two compounds that are mixed together then all the air is evacuated? Also what size of angle aluminum is to be used? I am using six inch square solar panels that have three buss bars one on each side and one in the middle. With using six inch panels what should the overall rectangle be? I appreciate your time taken to answer my questions.
Michael
[email protected]
Hi Michael, for on grid yes it usually must be UL certified, that’s why we advocate this system for off grid.
The compound you are speaking if is encapsulate and it is available here if you would like to purchase it: http://www.spheralsolar.com/products/ENCAPSULATION-KIT.html
Most people use 1″ C channel but you can use smaller depending on your backing material. The final size of the panel will depend on the electrical characteristics you are looking for, what is the voltage of the 6″x6″ solar cells?
We live in the city of Philadelphia PA. Do we have to get certain permits or zoning to take advantage of this type of DIY project?
I have a confession: I did not order the material for myself (I’m too old to start something like this). Instead I had my son-in-law in mind when I ordered and intend to send the ordered material to him. He’s younger and limber and this is a project that I feel he should get involved with.
So, with that in mind I will be forwarding (to him) whatever you send to me. I will be encouraging him to partner with his son-in-law to take on this project (the latter has a heated workshop.)
Both reside in northern British Columbia (Mackenzie). They get “winter” and lots of it so, snow on the roof, would likely have a negative effect on the efficiency of the solar panels ?? I’m waiting for an answer on that one.
Anyway, if these two accept the “challenge” I will do my best to keep you informed of their progress. Its winter right now but spring isn’t far off so they may wait for the warm weather.

how do I put this into my important email file

Very good information. Looking forward to more.

I am very interested in this program and have purchased the vids ,BUT. Your original posting vid, which got my attention, was waaaay to dragged out. After 5 mins. I almost x`d the video out, way too many white board drawings and too wordy. Most people`s online attention span is probably a min. or less. It might help your sales if you cut to the chase a little quicker on your vids.
Thank you,
Eric Shaw
I am excited about deciding to order these videos and looking forward to being able to build these cheaper, and save money after the work is done.
I am a women but was raised in the construction world so I have some handy skills.
Carla
What about UL regulations. Everything that is on and off grid must by UL certified. How does do-it yourselfers handel this?

Hey there! Thanks for the future info. I want to be prepared with four children and their families. God bless ya’ll !
I am interested in learning the specifics of the systems and thrir, their imtallation and implementation not the mutual adulation of those involved.
Allen am very interested in the systems, and Kriss`s comments, waiting for my hard cover to get started, I`am a retired carpenter. Am looking forward too more information
I see that Kriss is generating 1700 watts of power via solar and wind. That is only about 15 amps of electricity, not exactly enough to power a whole house, which usually requires 100+ amps. How else is he supplementing the rest of the required power?
Did you purchase the Off-Grid Living DVD? It walks through Kriss’s house and gives you all the nitty gritty.
I signed up yesterday. These 2 videos help my thinking about the benefits of the system. I am excited to think I can reduce or completely stop paying for MY POWER!!! Thanks again
Hi Kris.

Whats with the REQUIRING we join a secondary system to view your video’s. I do NOT want to download a secondary system to view something. If I can not watch it via my system then send me a CD with them.
Greg Schouweiler
Greg, If you can’t view the video that’s embedded and don’t wish to watch it on Vimeo, you can try our YouTube channel here
If at all possible can you send me cds with all this 10
Day show of the 4 patriots?
Sally,
I do not sell these Top 10 videos, but they are always here on my blog for you to view at your leisure.
I’m 70 years young widow. Just ordered your platinum package yesterday and I am concerned whether I will be able to build and install everything. I have tools and could give it a try or is there any way I could have someone build and install everything? My daughter and two grandsons live with me; the boys are 10 and 12 years old.
My home is attached to two rental dwellings here in Maryland. My interest is due to our electric company forcing “smart meters” on us whereby they can monitor how much electric we use and can shut us down any time they deem appropriate. I am a widow however I believe I can do this but will require time to really read and become comfortable with the information. I am so excited about this and look forward to hearing more.
Just signed up – waiting for my stuff to arrive.
I agree with the previous commenter (Terry Schwab). I just ordered your program yesterday and have not yet received it in the mail. I have very little idea what the detailed content will be because you mainly approach it from the marketing point of view — get us interested and then seal the deal. The more freebies you send to me with a limited period to accept and/or view them (such as the superpack installation videos) the more I get turned off with the entire program.
Give us access to all these features phase-by-phase so we can build on what we know. Don’t try to stuff it all down at one sitting. We barely gave our order to the waiter and are now letting the kitchen prepare our dinner order. Don’t ask us to think about breakfast and lunch yet.
Justin download to a flash drive and carry it with you
Your videos are great but do you have any way I can download the videos and watch them later. I don’t always have the time to run home and watch the videos. I’m out of town all day with tons of time without internet. I’ve only been able to watch about 30 min. of your videos since I downloaded the package because the videos are online. Thank You
Terry download them to a flash-drive and take them with you when you go out of town.

ywars old and I am not up to doing this I am only doing this because I may have a friend or neighbor that would be inintereste in this. I f I was 50 years younger I would do this myselfi
Watched all 10 very informative still have a few ?? I live in virginia 5 acre wooded lots of shade too. I’m not sure where to set up system,I thought I would build my solar panel first a see where the best place would be I don’t want to cut no more trees down than I have too.
Only the introduction plays… I don’t get the content. Could this be a browser configuration issue?

Wonderful…let’s hear some more
Hello Kriss, Nice to meet you, we live in Northern Arizona where we get an abundance of both wind and sun shine and we’re looking forward to taking advantage of these natural resources to our benefit. Been wanting to do this for some time now, but have been turned away from the high cost of retail solar and wind turbine equipment.we look forward to building our own, thanks Dink
I live in the state of Washington where we get light but not sun. We also have long dark days in the fall/winter and lots of rain. Will setting up my own solar system work here? Thanks.
thank you looking forward to next video.
I live in Costa Rica where we have lot’s of sun. I am really looking foward on getting sarted with putting together a solar panel set up. I have used the sun for years to heat our water as well as cook our food. Only a batch system to heat water is needed where I live. I am a bit limited on funds to build the size of system for power all at one time, so as funds come in I will build a poco a poco. Getting great info from you guys. You guys are doing a good thing. Thanks.

Purchased 4-230 watt 16a solar panels. Told the seller I will be installing 4 deep cycle batteries and he said to be careful with those panels producing so much current. I have a 3000/6000 watt inverter but not sure what amperage controller I need to buy. 12 volt system-off grid. Suggestions
Thanks
Do we get the DVDs in the mail or is this the program on the computer?
Just as the video looks like it is going into the questions and answers it goes black. What is with this? I’m wanting to get into this and not happy with what I’ve seen so far. Where are the questions and answers?
Richard,
Just click that “view next video” button.
just started reading program, really ready to get started generating my own electricity. Prices seem to really good. q-can u remove system, take it with you?
a rule of thumb for watt to amps is; for every 100watts thats about 1.5 amps,so if you have, lets just say,a 60amp panel, thats about 6300watts(potentially)and if you use all electric appliances, may as well double the wattage for your cottage!!(yeah!i know!sorry!!) thats alot of panels and NOT for the diy`er,but i do like the wind turbine idea, that would surely benefit the off-grid cause!!
Cool sea ya Ray H
Looking for my 10 day video series.
This is too slow. I have a life – I don’t need all this jollyfying- I just want the facts.
Wayne Boyce
That’s why I put the transcription right under the video. Just for guys like you, Wayne.
Thanks!
Ordered my package last night. When it arrives I’m going to take it to my son as a gift. Our bill for electricity is between $350-400 per month. So far nothing we do lowers the bill. I have not told anyone that this was purchased. It’s called “early Christmas”.
Unfortunately, I use Chrome. If you read to almost the very end of the comments you’ll find the following link https://vimeo.com/48494217
published that avoids the stoppage of the video if you are a user of Chrome. However, you have to be somewhat computer literate to understand how to make the different segments of the video(s) play. I had to click the almost-unable-to-be-seen button on the right to go to the HTML player. This could have been a much smoother publication.
Looking forward to being off the grid soon.
Hi please sign me up. I’m looking forward to getting started, because we are living paycheck to paycheck and still going further into debt. This may just help us try and get ahead by saving the power bill increases and put that back into our pocket.
Thanks
Jerry
I don’t have time to watch these at work and I don’t have internet at home. If they can’t be downloaded to save for reference, does that mean that you are going to make them available for reference on a permanent basis? They won’t be much good to me as a tool if I can’t reference the information when needed.
Kriss–I have a small backyard, will I have room ? In addition, if anything needs to be placed on my roof, who do i get to make sure the panels are on the studs? I;m also mechanically reclined and need hands on support–Is that a problem? Thank You –Anthony(Tony) Las Cruces, N.M.
can I save these to my computer to be reviewed as needed to refresh my memory?
Jeanna – You can bookmark this page! But no, I own these videos, so I’d prefer you’d not pirate them – even for your own use. :)
nothing persolnal but your free gift is bs
I hope the video is available for longer than 10 days as I am not able to have the time at the present to spend concentrating on this project. I am dealing with a ton of medical issues for my husband and myself. All the info should be downloadable for later reference.
Apparently no one at Power4Patroits are reading the comments placed here because the video still doesn’t address the 10 questions that it is supposed to cover. It is a 3:09 sec. video that is of no value. If this is any indication of what I can expect from the program then I may be requesting a refund.
Truman – Just click that “watch the next video” link. Each question in posed in a different video.
Frank,
I bought your system information a couple days ago. I have down loaded the information from the net while waiting for the materials. In reviewing the solar & wind construction directions, I was struck with the fact that these examples of solar panel construction & wind turb. construction was based on market conditions that seem somewhat in the past. An example on the solar info it ends with a projection of $175.00 in materials to build a 65 watt panel excluding labor. In today’s market, panels are available for between $1.00/watt and $2.00/watt. This would provide a 65 watt assembled panel for no more than $130.00 and could be as low as $65.00/panel.
Jim, prices vary considerably by source and location and I would much rather, for planning purposes, estimate high.
OK, as consumers, it is our responsibility to know what we are buying into. I have read all of the comments below and my ears just won’t stop hurting from all of the whining and complaining. If you want to get serious about your power issues, this is a good place to start and LEARN. Please feel free to educate yourself on what is involved here. I am no expert by all means, but i have studied this and toyed with this stuff for years. The internet is a great place to learn the basics as well as the good old fashioned library. I don’t anticipate this to be a quick fix, unless you spend as much time learning and working on these projects as you do complaining about what you have just bought that you may not understand. If you don’t want to take the time to research and learn or actually do the work, Mr. Bates has given a referral. I have been living without electric for over 5 years now, without wind or solar supplement. To me, this is a blessing.
Hi Everyone……………..great for you guys to spreat the word which as a retired businessman I compiment you while helpting people while making a bit of money (margin) BUT before that I was a CARPENTER and cabinet maker so I can not wait for you package. A question about your 10 daY THING…………….(darn CAPS LOCK LOL) is this the same as the daily email feature? What if I am away all day and miss one? I’m excited to start in between all my wife’s honey-do’s! LOL
Your video is 3.09 min. long and you say lets dive right in and there is no more.
I hope you have alot more. I have not been impressed at all yet.
Your video has no questions and answers.
I’ll send this on to customer service. Sometimes the disks get scratched in the mail; customer service will send you a new one.
The intro was fine but when it came to the questions to be answered it went blank.
Just three minutes of a black screen!
Your introduction was good we know who you are but when it came to 10 questions the video stops. Sooo what are the 10 questions that we might want the answers to?
I am by no meens an electrician. Is this still a project that I can undertake? I only have basic
wireing skills. Going to http//vimeo.com/user8414704 worked for me to get the video’s. Looking
forward to Information to come in the mail.
James, check out our technical FAQ: http://www.power4patriots.com/support_technical.php
Dear Sirs If i end up getting ripped off like the other comments i have read about your service and promises at the bottom of this page – you will hear from the office of better buisness and the Colo. Attorney Generals office. I hope you are prepared to give what you promise. Poeple are tired of scams. put some real effort into your product claims.
Got intro to Kriss link, nothing on list of 10 questions…
Did expect something new??? nothing
Will be requesting $ back…
WHJones
Nice intro, I suppose the next info is coming day by day with an email and link?
Hello I am Kris Allen, world top hit Nashville recording artist/ host of Late Night, Morning Meltdown & Monster Theater, on G. H. Talk Radio. For years I have been wanting to try living off of the grid in my West Virginia home. I recently had a guest on one of my shows who really change my ways of thinking. I was looking up some news on the net and I found this program that I bought last night. I am very excited to dig in and find out more and as always I would love to have you guys leave me commits and join me live on the air as my guest! http://www.ghtalkradio.com
I bought the video and it doesn’t tell you what you do with the solar panels or the windmill after you build them. ?? AND, the windmill video is about half there and mine stops right when they guy’s climbing the ladder to mount the generator and blades :( I’m NOT happy about that!
Dear Frank , I must tell that I have not yet received my manuals and cd-rom package yet but after reading reviews from this site and others I am having buyers remorse. If you are sincere and truly want to present customers with real information that they can use to better the program then I suggest that you do so up front and stop the e-mail barrage of leaders and gifts ,bonuses . besides who really watches a cd- rom anymore except me? Why don’t you make the package include the dvd series as well or instead of the cd -rom. The upgrade offer to the dvd series is very transparent . It is merely there to up the final cost to the customer. These e-mail videos are of very low quality both in picture and sound if one can finally load them. I would think that you would have worked out all the bugs in the system before offering them. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt but so far I am thinking that I may have made an error in judgement purchasing your product and service. I do not say these things lightly or with any sense of glee or anger but of concern. Unless you wish to respond with a thoughtful and meaningful reply rather than another e-mail promise and gift offer do not bother. In closing I want to say that I do hope that you are a man of integrity and can satisfy my concerns. Regards , Bill Trapani
Bill, I know there are alot of scams out there and it’s hard to know who to trust. I really do stand by Power4Patriots and have made all of the choices for this company based on customer feedback. Who else watches CD-ROMs? Thousands of patriots just like you. I work hard to keep the cost of production low so I can offer this information to people of all income levels. I have invested in a great customer service team and have an excellent standing with the BBB – claims that many of my competitors cannot offer. I hope you enjoy and get a chance to really use your Power4Patriots system once it comes to you and, if not, just return it. No questions, no worries. Frank
can’t view videos
I buy “power for patriots so i am able to build my own off grid power, and then your refer me to “Kriss for a quote on having him build and install solar panels and a Wind generator. Is this a $27.00 bait and switch or what? With what little I know, what you initially offered, is a real possibility. Are you now just a facilitator for Kriss’s business? Pleas be up front with us. Patriots do have power; but the kind you do not want to experience if you mess over us. Scoat
Thanks for your comments! If you follow the Power4Patriots system, you can absolutely get off the grid. I worked hard to make sure you would have all the information you need. But I’ve gotten feedback from some folks that say they want a “jump start” on their system or that they don’t want to build the whole system themselves from the ground up and wanted me to recommend where they could get some help or some pre-made parts or kits. For those folks I recommend getting in touch with Kriss; he’s got the technical skills and I know him personally, so I know he’s a stand-up guy who will do right by my customers. My goal is to support everyone who wants to become more self-reliant and independent, no matter what their needs or abilities are. Frank
Where is the Video?
Do I need help, or can I do it myself?
I really don’t a question, yet.I will have a lot after i get the material, thanx
I need Krisses Email address and or phone number. thank you
If you have a specific technical question, you can contact [email protected] and they can put you in touch with technical support.
This makes the second time, for me to send to you, this comment. I noticed, while watching the
video, that there was a number of “stops” to the movement of the video. This I found quite puzzling,
because these stops, interfered with “your comments and those of Kriss’s.” Should this problem
interfere with the other Videos, then, I would find (viewing the other videos) futile; to-say-the-least!
Gaynor over-and-out.
You are likely seeing a lag due to limits in streaming speed by your internet provider.
How about a written narrative so it can be printed and filed?
Did not get to hear to 10 questions. Really interested in the questions and what Chris’s answers are.
This is what I spent my $27 bucks for..a 3 minute intro? I feel like I’ve been ripped off.
Where’s the Q & A’s?
The introduction was long but only addressed the questionsby stating that they were written down.
This is my free gift only 3 mim. of talk and no questions or answers, not real pleased.
My sediments exactly: The Video did not address the top 10 questions. It was only 3 minutes of intro. Stopped right when Alan? said to dive right into the list of questions! what’s up with that!!This wasn’t well planned out.
I too received an error while loading. Not good to offer something you can’t deliver. Hopefully, corrected soon.
Just testing, myself, here at home, I discovered that I get an error with Chrome, but not with other browsers.
You can also find this video on Vimeo:
https://vimeo.com/48494217
All I got was a note saying “Sorry There was an error while loading this Video” so how do I get the video I did not have come up?
John,
I’m sorry about that. I’m still working on learning all the finer points of blog technology. I’ve recently started a YouTube channel and one of the playlists is all Kriss:
On with the show
This looks great definitely merits further study
No comment as of yet, I’m little skeptical.
WHAT IS THE FIRST OBJECT WE WILL BE FURNISHING POWER SAVINGS & COST?
I’ve learned that there is different types of solar cells! Which one do you suggest using?
