Flint Officials Add Insult to Injury

Not a day goes by that you don’t worry about will happen to your kids. Flint kids drank lead-tainted water at home and school for who knows how long. All thanks to aging lead pipes. The government did nothing to fix it. Experts say lead poisoning can damage developing brains and slow down growth in young kids. They also say your kids could suffer from learning disabilities. Shortened attention spans. And anti-social behavior. But now, thanks again to the government, you have even more to worry about. The authorities might take your house because of an overdue bill. Which bill? Believe it or not, it’s your water bill!

From time to time, we talk about big government and small government. But it’s hard to get a grip on those vague terms. What does small government look like? What does big government look like?

Small government is what our Founding Fathers intended. It’s been a while since we’ve seen what that looks like. But it’s clear what big government looks like. Just look at the faces of homeowners in Flint, Michigan.

As the entire world knows by now, unsafe levels of lead were found in schools, homes and businesses in Flint. Lead is a neurotoxin and a poison. It’s a very dangerous problem. Especially for children.

It is highly likely that many young people there will grow up with major problems because of lead-tainted water.

Just imagine the fear that must grip parents in Flint as they watch and wait… to see how badly their children will be affected over time.

As If Allowing Lead to Contaminate Water Wasn’t Enough…

Consider the obscene amount of taxes people in Flint and elsewhere pay. You’d think the government could have used some of that money to prevent this problem in the first place.

Now, despite the hell these parents have are going through, the government just sprung another nice surprise on them.

The local government wants to evict people in Flint from their homes. They recently sent notices to 8,000 Flint residents threatening property liens that could foreclose their homes. All if they don’t pay overdue water bills.

I’m not making this up!

This, friends, is what uncaring, unresponsive, unfeeling big government looks like. Pretty ugly, isn’t it?

Big Government’s Response? Too bad!

Officials in Flint say their tap water is now safe to drink… but they recommend using a water filter. If it’s safe, why is a filter needed?

Here’s what a spokesperson for the Flint Treasury Department told Fox News:

“We have to have revenue coming in, so we can’t… give people water at the tap and not get revenue coming in to pay those bills.”

That’s just great! And tell me, will the government provide money for doctor and psychologist bills when kids have health problems, learning disabilities and anti-social behavior?

Many people are upset about this, including U.S. Representative Dan Kildee of Michigan.

“Flint families should not have to pay for water that they still cannot drink,” he said, “and they certainly should not lose their homes over this ongoing water crisis that was caused by the callous decisions of state government.”

Water Contamination Problems Are Everywhere

And as horrible as we feel for the people who drank Flint’s lead-tainted water – the worst news is that this is not an isolated incident.

Millions of lead pipes across the country are being used to deliver water that people use for drinking, bathing and cleaning.

And there is still no law to stop water utilities from using those pipes to send water to schools, homes and businesses!

A recent Associated Press poll reveals that less than one-half of Americans are extremely confident or very confident in their tap water. And a majority of those polled believe that the contamination of Flint’s tap water means there is a widespread problem.

Another recent study published by USA Today shows that children currently drink lead-tainted water in hundreds of daycare centers and schools in the U.S. The study also found excessive lead levels in nearly 2,000 water systems across all 50 states.

The Natural Resources Defense Council declared that in 2015, almost 77 million Americans received their drinking water from systems that violated federal protections. And more than one-third of those people relied on systems that did not comply with standards put in place to protect health.

More and more people are coming to this conclusion: that if they haven’t been affected by water contamination yet, they may be in the near future.

Lending a Helping Hand

We at 4Patriots can’t replace all of the country’s lead pipes. But we want to be part of the solution. That’s why we recently donated a number of our high-end water filtration product, the Alexapure Pro. We sent several to some of the daycare centers and schools in Flint that were hit hardest with water contamination issues.

Of course, lead is not the only contaminant to watch out for coming in our faucets. Across the country, they’re finding tons of tap water contaminants. Fluoride. Arsenic. Heavy metals. Even pharmaceuticals. That’s why we believe people need to protect themselves and their families from these serious contaminates with a reliable water filtration system.

Our top recommendation in water filters is the Alexapure Pro Water Filter.

This breakthrough device instantly transforms deadly contaminated water into clean, safe and delicious water – and with no chemicals, electricity, or even any moving parts.

Editor’s Note: Following pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the Flint City Council voted on the issue of placing a one-year moratorium on tax liens from water bills. But as of this writing, the state advisory board had not yet approved the measure. And even if it does, those same citizens whose children drank lead-tainted water will be facing the same problem in 12 months.
