As unreliable and unprofessional as the mainstream media has become – loyally supporting the Obama Administration regardless of how manipulative and deceiving it is – at least there are still some dissenting voices out there. We still read some articles and hear some radio shows and see some television coverage that is critical of the administration and calls it out for its ineptitude and outright lying to the public.
But what if those voices were hushed? What if the government starting throwing all dissenters into prison or making them disappear? That’s what has happened many times through the years in other countries when dictators have taken over. That’s how the will of the people is crushed so that the government can control everything and everyone.
Surely that couldn’t occur in America, right? Well, that’s what we’d like to believe, but with all the NSA spying and the IRS and EPA targeting, I’d have to say we’re getting a lot closer to a totalitarian system than we’ve ever been before. And now we’re learning that if you criticize ObamaCare, you might lose your job.
In fact, that’s exactly what just happened. Fox News recently reported that the Washington, D.C., insurance commissioner was fired for criticizing Obama’s proposed Affordable Health Care Act “fix” and saying that the city might not follow the president’s suggestions.
Washington, D.C., and 16 states run their own healthcare exchange, while 36 states have chosen to allow residents to purchase insurance on the federal exchange.
Former Commission William White said that the president’s action “undercuts the purpose of the exchanges…by creating exceptions that make it more difficult for them to operate.” White also agrees with a National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ statement that said Obama’s order “threatens to undermine the new market, and may lead to higher premiums and market disruptions in 2014 and beyond.”
How long do you think it will be before media such as Fox News is shut down by the government on some false pretense? How long will it be before the current administration signs off on a law forbidding criticism of the government? That might still sound far-fetched in the “land of the free,” but it seems to be the terrifying direction in which we are headed.
