The Obama Administration has made it perfectly clear through a variety of ways that it wants to disarm all U.S. citizens.
The Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled billions of bullets in order to make ammunition scarce, the administration has raised taxes on guns and ammo, and, perhaps worst of all, Obama has shamelessly used shooting tragedies as opportunities to call for stricter gun control.
Never once have I heard Obama or any of his people praise the efforts of an armed citizen who stopped a bad guy before he could inflict pain and suffering. And believe me, this happens far more often than what we hear about from the bleeding heart liberal media who push Obama’s policies.
That’s why I was so glad to hear that the police chief in Detroit, Michigan, has encouraged law-abiding citizens to purchase guns for the purpose of protecting themselves and their property from criminals.
“When you look at the city of Detroit, we’re kind of leading the way in terms of urban areas with law-abiding citizens carrying guns,” said Detroit Police Chief James Craig, who has been involved in law enforcement for more than 35 years.
Craig, well aware of Detroit’s notorious crime problem, has grown tired of seeing good citizens victimized by criminals. For the past couple years, he has encouraged them to arm themselves because the police can’t be everywhere at once. There has been a steady rise in the number of citizens who have bought guns since then, and as a result, the number of home invasions have gone down. Burglars are more cautious about breaking into homes when they believe the homeowner possesses a firearm.
Of course, this is also what our Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment more than 200 years ago. Unfortunately, the Obama-led liberals have no regard for the Constitution, which is a big part of the reason this country is in the mess that it’s in.
How do you feel about the Detroit police chief encouraging law-abiding citizens to arm themselves? Would you like to see more of this in other American cities?
